Well...he is one massive, massive dude... B-)

I really hope he works on his balance this offseason. He was on the ground way too much. If he learns to set his base, he's the ideal space clogger for the other guys.

According to Whaley Shaq will start at OLB and move to 5 tech in passing situations.

My guess is the Bills would love Reed or Billings in the 2nd.

______Dareus __Reed/Billings__Kyle_______

Dont be surprised if Manny starts at ILB also over Preston.

In sub package...

__Manny___________Zach________

So, we still need a NT and 2 ILB's just to run our defense. Sweet. And then we need a WR and OT.

I'm looking forward to the next 5 picks all being immediate starters

A while back I went and watched his tape vs. Florida St in 2012...

It was not pretty...But I know he's worked hard since then...I will say this...When he played low and got his arms extended he got some nice push...He made a couple nice plays...But goodness...Most of that game was him coming off high and being escorted out of the running lane with ease by guys much smaller than he was...It was not good...Plus I've been watching Chris Jones tape for a month...It's not really fair to Barnes... A true NT still has serious value for us, surprised Clark went in the 1st.

Billings is still on the board. Reed and Robinson can play the nose too, as well as 3 tech and 5 tech. But if I'm betting, Su'a Cravens is the next man up for Whaley if he's there. If not, Kendall Fuller/Vonn Bell.

Jerry Hughes is in the LB room this year, so my assumption is that Lawson (Shaq) and Dareus line up at end with Kyle at the nose. Hughes will line up at the OLB side opposite Lawson's field side. Lawson (Manny) will play OLB opposite Hughes, and the two Browns will play MLB, with Preston playing on Hughes' side of the field.

So two Lawsons, two Williams and two Browns all starting in our front seven? Interesting.

It would be awesome to add J Reed to this D but it's doubtful he will available when we pick again in the second unless we move up.

Ragland or Billings. Trade up to get one of them if need be. Just do it.

Prefer Austin Johnson, who is bigger than Billings and more versatile.

Kyle and ?

It does not matter what defence we run it will be so complicated that Shaq will not be useful for 2 years.

If Hughes and Williams and the LB's had trouble and they are experienced then why would anyone suggest Shaq will be OK.

If you say that RR will only use Shaq in situations then why not do the same last year.

If we dumb down the D then why did we not do it last year. It sis not as if RR has not been around the league ofrr a while. Hell, we could have expected Maroone to make that mistake but not a coach who has experience

Either way RR will find a way to screw it up. After all he is a players coach...

Common Bill, drink the koolaid for a bit, we have all season to be negative.

This Defense has worked before, now that malcontents and misfits are gone and the rest getting a handle on this D, they can't possible be as inept, right?

I agree with this, except I really don't think Kyle is going to play NT. I think they'll draft a true NT, like Reader.

If the Bills go base 3-4, I don't think Kyle will find a spot on the field, if the Bills draft a true NT. If the Bills go Nickel in a 4-3 under with some different concepts, I could see Kyle playing the 3-tech and Hughes playing the 9-tech next to Kyle. Dareus at the 0T/1T, Lawson(Shaq) playing the 5-tech then Manny playing the SLB. Or if you wanted to go pressure package, you stand up Lawson(Shaq), move Dareus to the 5-tech bring in the NT you draft and keep everyone the same.

Lots of options in sub-packages for Kyle but unfortunately if it's base 3-4 I don't see a spot for him. Which isn't a horrible thing because most defenses are in sub-packages something like 63% of the time.

Lawson = Michael Bennett type role.

3-4 Base would be Shaq, Z Brown, P Brown, Hughes at LB with Dareus on the nose, Williams at DE, Lord knows who at the other DE. They need to use #49 to get a guy who can play the nose and move Dareus out to 5 tech.

4-3 Under (Pettine front) you can bring Shaq down with his hand on the ground as either a DE or a DT depending on the subpackage, just like the Hawks do with Bennett.

As good as KW is...He's not a Nose...He's a 3 tech and one of the best in the league there...Plus he's 32 coming off a knee...As the Bills stand right now Dareus still gets the bulk of the saps at 0 or 1 in the a 3 man front...He's best suited...That's why I think it's imperative that the Bills get a versatile player to add to this mix that can play a lot over the center... B-)

I agree that Dareus (at this point) is probably the NT. Though I'm pretty sure that he can run gap.

This would be my guess. I also wouldn't be shocked at all if the techniques on the base are a little more offset to give Kyle what he's best at: Dareus playing the heavy 5 like Branch did for us (under Pettine) a NT 2 gapping to clog up space (if we take Billings, I'm sure of it), then put Kyle at the 3 and let Hughes rush from the 7, and occasionally send him to cover.

RR did dumb down the D last year, after the bye.

And one reason to think Shaq Lawson may excel early on is that the players around him will have had a year in the system already.

GO BILLS!!!

I see the Bills going one of three ways in round 2, RT, WR, or NT/DT. I think all three are valid needs so it will be interesting to see where they feel they can go. I think the team likely feels more confident in the options at RT than at NT or WR. But Rex always seems to find space eater NT's on the cheap. So I see the Bills going WR round 2, then they go MLB round 3 and depth needs the rest of the way.
