Well this is a topic that we will never agree on. It will all play out. I'm hoping that the Jets do start Geno. If they do they're irrelevant but have enough other talent to win enough games to not pick at the top.

I will bow out on the topic because the disagreement has derailed it. I will be really surprised if something doesn't get done. I hope that it doesn't.

As it stands we are not going to agree on this issue. That's okay. Respectful disagreements are an inescapable part of the landscape. 98% of the posters not only disagree with my position on the Brady/Goodell saga but they ridicule me for it. That's fine. It's like water rolling off of a duck's back

I understand your reasoning but simply disagree with it. The reality is that what you and I think is irrelevant. If you recall I pointed out with my early posts that it was more illuminating to watch what the Jets do rather than get sucked into the back and forth dueling by outsiders. From my observation the Jets early on (prior to the conclusion of the season) staked out a position on this issue and for the most part (with room for some flexibility) are holding to their stance. For me that is very telling.

You are convinced that if the Jets start Smith it will be a catastrophe for the Jets. Their view is that the difference between Smith and Fitz's performance levels isn't worth giving Fitz a contract that will hinder them in the not too distant future. Or another way of looking at it is that stopgap qbs don't have as much value as you think. I still think a deal will get done but if it does it will be more to the Jets' liking than to Fitz's. Let's just see how this plays out.

Bowles said #Jets have talked re: adding another veteran quarterback if Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn't re-sign

Poor Bowles having to keep saying this ridiculous stuff.

Talking about his TD's or the Jets team wins of last season does nothing and adds nothing.

I'm confused. I coulda sworn I read on here (many times) that a team wins because of its QB. With a bad QB you have no chance, or so I've read (many times).

Jets are looking at Geno if they can't work things out with Fitz. Fitz vs. Geno production: https://goo.gl/q5yvqG

How come Branch didn't drive around drunk throwing up out the window of his car when he played for the Patsies?

Looks like the author updated it after reading my email stating that Tyrod would also be cheaper than Fitzpatrick on earlier version of article. Original article was posted in PFW:

Quote from email response back:

You are correct, I thought I was missing one. Hope you'll agree it doesn't change the point with the Jets but we strive for 100% accuracy so I appreciate the note.

I have a hunch that Chan Gailey will get some production out of Geno. He was named starter last year ahead of Fitz and Gailey is very familiar with Fitz.

Gailey has a history of making nobody QBs into decent starters.
