YoloinOhio Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 @jasoncoleBR Source said free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has no intention of retiring. Whether he plays for the #Jets again sounds dicey.
Kirby Jackson Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 ESPN has been reading TBD it seems... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15421505/ryan-fitzpatrick-sit-new-york-jets-budge Fitzgerald should jump at that!! Penny wise and pound foolish. What are the Jets worth this season with Geno or Hoyer at the top of that roster? That's Fitz's leverage--that and this mic drop he just did. lol No kidding. They should have wrapped this up long ago. He's only going to play another two years I bet--so why not keep him and "develop" the next guy? I mean...12 million? That's sub"elite" CB money. Jets are a riot. I agree, they think that they are playing hardball but they have no options.

Weo, I almost fell off my chair, we agree on something. Just kidding bud as you have a lot of Well thought out ideas. I just don't understand the upside for either in negotiations. I've done hundreds of capital deals with CEO's in hospitals and in the end, it's always better when no one is completely happy, but both feels they had a modest win. Anyway, looking forward to the draft. I can't believe how starved I am for the NFL I'm willing to blow two three days of names being called for. Next year. I don't know about you guys, but I'm watching tonight, a little after we go out dinner tomorrow, and maybe see the 4th pick while at the gym. I'd shoot myself if I actually watched the late rounds.

YoloinOhio Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) Think how much more he would be getting if not for McLovin end zone pick Edited April 28, 2016 by YoloinOhio
atlbillsfan1975 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Smart by Fitz. He has enough money. He simply has said it will take x dollars for me to do y because of z. Fitz also realizes that the kind of money he has made, invested wisely, will change the future for generations of Fitzpatricks.
C.Biscuit97 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) Tyrod is a much better player than Fitz and you know that but will never admit it because you think think downplaying his play makes you less wrong about the guy you wanted. If the Bills called the Jets and said "we will trade you Tyrod for Fitz" it would take about 1 second for the Jets to accept (if Fitz were under contract). The Bills have beaten the Jets 5 straight times by an average of 17.6 points a game. The Jets are better coached and had a better defense but the Bills have better playmakers. I don't know if I'd call TT a much better player than Fitz. I know we're a Bills board and can't give ex players' credit, but Fitz was really good. He was asked at times to win games for the Jets with his arm, something TT has rarely had to do. Fitz played really well in both games against NE. TT certainly can be better than Fitz. But I don't see a much better player yet. We had to beat Kellen Moore and Fitz to even get to .500. Edited April 28, 2016 by C.Biscuit97

I am a Fitz fan. He is a worse player than Tyrod. He plays in an offense that is tailor made for success and he makes a lot of plays and mistakes. It's how he has always been. He makes a ton of costly mistakes and is limited physically. He can't make all of the throws. Tyrod was 8-6, those wins didn't get him to .500 they got the Bills to .500. They would have had a winning record if he started 16 games. He's a middle of the league QB and Fitz is a little behind that. In addition, they are going in different directions. I like Fitz (a lot) but he is not as good a player as TT.

Hasn't Fitzy improved statistically every year since being cut by the Bills, culminating in the greatest year (so far) of his career last year?

Kirby Jackson Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Hasn't Fitzy improved statistically every year since being cut by the Bills, culminating in the greatest year (so far) of his career last year? That is true. I guess that I was talking long-term. I don't see great improvement coming from a guy turning 34 during the year. He was back in the perfect system with the best weapons that he has ever played with and he was good. Maybe I'm wrong and he gets better while TT regresses. History would show though that the inexperienced guy has more room to grow than the guy with 105 starts.
QCity Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The Jets are not a good team and aren't going anywhere, even with Fitz. They simply took advantage of a weak schedule last year (something we did not) and that 10-6 record is a complete mirage. Kudos on beating the Pats late in the year, but that was their only victory of any substance. I doubt they hit .500 this season even if Fitz is under center.

Was giving up the 5th least points in the entire league a mirage? Come on, man. Give credit where it's due.

Fitz threw almost 9 more times a game than Taylor. It was more on him to carry his offense than TT. Also, wasn't Taylor's offense totally tailored (look at that pun!) to his strengths as well? Taylor was better at protecting the ball and running. Fitz was better in almost every other statistical category. Obviously, Taylor's arrow seems to be pointing up while Fitz is going down. But Fitz was a very solid to good qb who helped a Jets team most people thought was going to be bad have 10 wins.
QCity Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Was giving up the 5th least points in the entire league a mirage? Come on, man. Give credit where it's due. Yup. That's exactly what I mean by mirage. Who did they beat last year that impressed you (aside from the Pats win that I mentioned)? Hell, even the teams they lost to were pretenders (i.e. Oakland, Philly, Us)

I just think it's early to say he's already on the decline after having his best season ever.

Hell, even the teams they lost to were pretenders (i.e. Oakland, Philly, Us) We haven't had 10 wins since 1999. I would feel much better about this year if we coming off a 10 win season than rally to finish 8-8. It's funny how Bills fans can crap on double digit wins.
QCity Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Couldn't you say the exact same thing about TT? And we didn't have a win over the Pats. Absolutely. We haven't had 10 wins since 1999. It does feel wrong to crap on a 10 win season, but It's the truth though, isn't it? Take a look at their season.

That is pure speculation that Bills would win get them to .500. Bills sometimes lose games they should win and there is no guarantee with Bengals defense and their attitude of "I don't care if it is against the rules, I'll complain about fines later" that Tyrod would have come out healthy out of that game. Tyrod LIKE Fritz sometimes takes too many chances running the ball past down marker.
