I expect the Bills to be VERY active in the draft.

Recommended Posts

The main reason is because of their salary cap situation they were very limited in free anency due to money. In the draft they can get a lot more value for a lot less money. There are plenty of positions to fill and/or strengthen and this draft is ideally suited for their wants and needs.

Not only do I expect them to be very active but especially in the 1st rd where a 1st rder gives them a 5th year option on their contract. I would think a QB would come into play because of this. A trade back and/or a trade up into this rd could be quite beneficial for them.

Whaley has shown that he's not intimidated by making bold moves, especially concerning the first round. Anyone who doesn't expect him to get aggressive and creative in this draft is in for a surprise. Thursday night can't come fast enough!

I think Whaley has to play as if he will do nearly anything and leave himself open to wheeling and dealing.

Might wish they trade down in the first, even if it is only one spot to the jets. But the fun bit about Whaley, is it really could go either way !

Bills will make their pick in each round. That will be their activity in this draft and that's all I want.

It's a bad salary cap year for sure. The Bills missed the FA window so now they should just build for 2018. This year is a year where playoffs should be a goal and 2018 should be a deep playoff/SB goal year. NExt year is when the BIlls can sign extensions and FAs.

What does that even mean? - "Active in the draft"

You mean they will be jumping up and down in the room waiting for their chance to draft a guy? Or perhaps pacing back and forth from the coffee machine to the table to the coffee machine, etc.

Isn't every team active in the draft? Do some of them sleep through it?

I expect to be active at work today.

I expect to be active on this forum for another five minutes.

So you're saying they should not trade for Glennon?

I agree that QB P. Lynch could play a big role in what the Bills do this Thursday night.

There are teams that draft behind the Bills in R1 who need a QB and who may feel the need to make a move for Lynch in R1. That's where the Bills could make a nice haul by trading back in R1 and obtaining additional picks while still getting the impact defensive player that Whaley/Rex covet.

it would be tough to pass on DT Rankins or DE S. Lawson though if either are available at #19 overall.

If they are going to get Nkemdiche I think they can trade down to mid 20's and still get him and then get an extra 2nd as well perhaps. If a team is desperate to get ahead of the Jets for Paxton Lynch then that pick at 19 could be worth a lot

Yep my thoughts exactly. It's going to depend on how things shake out. If a guy of high value is there take them or if someone you don't need is there that you know a lot of other teams wants then trade back
