K D Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The Washington Post put together a program that gives a draft value to all of the players drafted in the past 20 years. The Bills rank 30th https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/sports/nfl-draft-history/
Kirby Jackson Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) That's a really odd timeframe to use. I know that they were trying to use a bigger sample size but it's across 5 or 6 regimes for some teams. It really doesn't have anything to do with now. As an example, Indy is one of the worst drafting teams now but had Peyton, Harrison, Wayne, Edge and Freeny in that stretch. They don't have 1 of those guys on the roster nor the people that selected them. What does that have to do with now? Edited April 22, 2016 by Kirby Jackson
Magox Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 It may help make the case but it doesn't prove anything.
papazoid Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 and after we miss the playoffs this year..... regime change.... wash, rinse, repeat.
Mark80 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Old metric proves Bills one of the worst teams a drafting .... our W-L record over the past 16 years and 0 playoff appearances! No need to overthink it, that's all the evidence you need right there.
ALF Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The Bills are ahead of Raiders and Browns . Raiders have turned it around now and Browns moneyball parlay could do the same.
YoloinOhio Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I like the tool and metric, would like to see it available for last 5 years, last 10 years, last 15... Etc.

Seems like if the underlying data is there it should be easy to change the parameters in the query to pull that type of data out. Hopefully they make that an option in the future

2003Contenders Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Yea, the time frame is quite arbitrary. For example, I dare say that if you looked at the 10 years prior to this (86-95), the Bills likely had one of the BEST draft track records.
Coach Tuesday Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 We really needed a "new metric" to establish this?

26CornerBlitz Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Who cares? What matters is what happens now and moving into the future.
eball Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I've come across another metric that indicates the Bills are one of the least successful teams of the past 15 years. The name of the metric? Consciousness.
todd Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Past results don't indicate future performance, but keep crusading.
thebandit27 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 It may help make the case but it doesn't prove anything. Thank you
