Forgive me for not reading through this entire thread, but I'm curious: am I the only one who doesn't get why pretty much everyone is making a big deal out of Prince's death?

Well for people my age he was a big part of the music scene when we were in our early 20's. 80's music was fun and a he was entertaining. What I don't get is this whole shock and sadness stuff. **** happens, people die. Here's the good thing about musicians. Their legacy will always be with us and very easy to find.

how many police officers are killed every day? how many vets commit suicide a day? how many truly sad things happen that just get a shrug? yet, a girly man in purple pants and a funny haircut who can play an instrument very well dies and all shiz breaks loose?

not that i'm overly concerned with any of those issues, i just find it bittersweet to the society in which we live. the hashtag has more power than pen. instead of writing anyone to #bringbackourgirls or #kony2012, or anything more recent demanding change we tweet, we post, and we act outraged, sad, and put out emotions that are just ridiculous.

so, if that makes me a bitter contrarian than i'd rather have that than whatever else is this crap is from others - especially anyone who gets the joys out of being a bigot, crying out safe space, or can only add a blurted statement of being wrong without substance.

#welcometotheworldwelivein.

This is rambling nonsense.

This, is now nothing more than LAMP trolling now. A "'Girly Man? he got more tail in a single month than you would in 25 lives, despite your bragging about it. Vets? As one Myself I would say you are now over your head, grasping for straws, BTW What branch did you serve in? So yea change the topic to try and save face? "A dude that can play an instrument well? LOL he played more instruments than you have fingers very well. On some albums in fact every one. Any " fan" knows this. And There are millions in the year 2016.'the frigging Queen of England wore a purple dress yesterday to honor this yanks memory. You are eating way to many cow pies man. You look foolish. But you know that. A effin musican dies loved by 10's of millions and you make a thread that people can express there thoughts/memory's and you turn it political? Drive to Niagara falls today stand by the purple lights now on at night and think about the word " relevant" if you can pull yourself away from the kardashian show for awhile. i will admit though your off base football posts though are way less irritating.

I should not have replied to a troll who simply cannot grasp anyone who share's love for a artist or in your eloquent English " girly man wearing purple pants" You have turned this thread into a S******E it should be locked. Plenty of sites for people here to go read, post, and celebrate the life of an artist that influenced so many, a man that donated many millions anonymously to help many, many, people. Including American Vets.

BB. King Irrelevant? Music is not something you should comment on period.

Don't expect a reply your trolling and losing badly.

It's clear from Boyst's language he's always been threatened by Prince's sexuality and sexual prowess. Jealousy, envy, and ignorance collide to create post after post of nonsense on this topic.

Prince will be long remembered, his music will live on well past any of us reading this thread now.

Good for Prince's death to dominate CNN to take away from the constant election coverage with multiple repeated segments of "breaking news" which is just the candidate mouthpieces talking to CNN or CNN's internal mouthpieces.

Welcome to stay on the topic.

havent strayed that far off as it has organically developed by members questioning why the fanfare for him and a debate to his relevance and perceived notions of popularity.

I disagree the topic has got off course, though will admit it has deteriorated from a RIP thread due to the above mentioned argument. The conversations have been civil and fair to both sides.

Also note. This is art. This isn't matter of fact statements. Some like van Gogh. Some don't.

Oops: MTV Flubs Prince tribute by playing Fresh Prince

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/mtv-flubs-prince-tribute/

so this reinforces my statements. If the 30 to 50 yr olds running MTV don't know prince ... who does? The original vjs knew him and they're gone.

Of course this is also a statement of proof showing the disconnect between media and reality as well as upper management and lower.

How do you not know will smith from prince?!? Though, I'd like to see DJ jazzy jeff do a prince tribute

why

Because your statements are rambling nonsense. :w00t:

What happened on MTV is an amusing !@#$ up, not proof that Prince is insignificant or culturally irrelevant. You're not only spouting demonstrably incorrect statements (like Prince, Michael Jackson and Robin Williams were nearly forgotten by pop culture before they passed), you're trying to argue that because you don't care no one cares. That's about as narcissistic and egomaniacal as it gets. On top of that you're confusing fame with relevance. Lots of people are famous for completely forgettable and ridiculous reasons, not everyone leaves a legacy like Prince, Michael Jackson, or Robin Williams. There's a giant difference between what you're attempting to argue and reality.

Plus, the language you're choosing to use in this thread makes it clear that your biggest problem with prince is his look which you continually describe as "girly". That says a lot more about you and how you view the world than it does how the culture viewed, or views, Prince's legacy.

noted. Thanks

And the issue of him dressing girly is not my biggest issue. I think its just the most hilarious. I have non issue with how he dresses. But it looks ridiculous.

Coolest video I've seen since Prince's passing. I can't describe it any better than the comment below from the YouTube page. Enjoy.

"At a 1983 Concert A black Michael Jackson sang along side a James brown with no sleeves. A drunk and loaded Prince then rides in on Santa Claus, then fell off the stage and took the light pole with him. You will never see anything even close to this stuff again. LOL"
