Beerball Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Late in FA, but 6 teams still have >$20M in cap space: Bears (22.1), Giants (22.2), Titans (29.4), Browns (39.8), 49ers (52.2) & Jags (53.7) Carolina just freed up $14M didn't they?
26CornerBlitz Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 NFL Nation: Landing spots for Josh Norman Which teams will have interest now that Josh Norman is a free agent? Our NFL Nation reporters pick out who could make a pre-draft splash by signing the star cornerback.
YoloinOhio Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 So Panthers gave Norman's agent permission to seek a trade... And nada @josephperson Panthers gave Josh Norman's agent OK to pursue a trade, per source. When that didn't materialize ... http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article72926107.html
Maury Ballstein Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Gonna be interesting. Now he can fight Cam again after he picks one off.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 @JasonColeBR At least 8 teams have expressed interest in ex-#Panthers CB Josh Norman. Among those are #Bucs, #Dolphins, #49ers, #Rams and #Bears.

aristocrat Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 carolina loves their lb's and def line which helped make norman look real good. he wasn't thought that high of here and everybody kind of thinks he's been a one year wonder.
truth on hold Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 @JasonColeBR At least 8 teams have expressed interest in ex-#Panthers CB Josh Norman. Among those are #Bucs, #Dolphins, #49ers, #Rams and #Bears. media still not getting what the panthers are signalling the rest of the league informed them: the guy is not that good and got torched every time he went one on one against top WRs. why in the world pay a guy top dollar if he can't hold his own against the opponent's top players? a one year deal for a guy ... even if overpaid ... would have been tolerable. But no one is giving him a long term, top dollar deal
purple haze Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Can't blame the player for trying to get as much money as he can... Panthers just aren't going to be the team to give it to him. This could set the market for Gilmore. I doubt he gets 16 mil from any team. I'm curious to see the deal Norman gets. Gilmore isn't signing anything until the market is fully set. Panthers picked the worst time to do this from our standpoint. I don't think its bad for the Bills at all. Actually, the fact the Panthers didn't give in to 16 million is good for the Bills. If Norman has gotten that Gilmore's agent would be asking for that ballpark. I don't think Norman gets that from any other team. Even the ones who have a lot of money to spend.

If the market isn't "set" then the agent is going to try for a number beyond the highest.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Maybe that helps with Gilmore negotiations, who knows. Norman is now currently a FA. Rex says sign him! Been saying all along, if he were in a bills uni hes no better than Corey Graham then why was the whole league raving about him last yr?
truth on hold Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 then why was the whole league raving about him last yr? They weren't the freaking media was. Julio and Roddy called him out before the falcons game and then went out and torched him

There might be someone desperate enough to splash the cash on him. Even if the Panthers didn't, someone else might. Carolina value their DL more, they'll spend on Short and Lotulelei. If average corners like Joe Haden are getting $13.5m a year, Norman has every right to hold out for more.
ALF Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Norman , Wilkerson , Fitz , Von Miller , the players wanting big contracts is growing and the salary cap is starting to push back.
Maury Ballstein Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 the guy is not that good and got torched every time he went one on one against top WRs. why in the world pay a guy top dollar if he can't hold his own against the opponent's top players? Top ranked CB in football last year. What other uber wrong takes do you want to post ?
BuffaloBill Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Oops I would have taken that 14 mil myself And not a penny less ....
8-8 Forever? Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Maybe that helps with Gilmore negotiations, who knows. Norman is now currently a FA. this is what may happen with Gilmore. If Rex's defense is so pressure scheme and confusion dependant, why do you need $20m corners... i know i know they are on an island, etc. but they only have to cover for 2 or 3 seconds before the ball is forced out by the pressure... my sense is you pay average rate for corners and overpay the smarter players and the Jerry Hughes types who can run the Rex pressure scheme... right?
ALF Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Miami might be interested, I hope not http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article72943127.html#navlink=Lead
