How is this even an issue these days with the ability to gamble from any location in the world via the internet?

The who's who in that city will be either athletes or have ties to gambling and they will be rubbing elbows every day of the week. You don't see how that can lead to problems? Insider tips here, throw a few plays there...

In the information age, there's no need to be co-located with unsavory gamblers to have that kind of contact to provide inside information. Total non issue.

If you don't see how easy it would be for a guy running a gambling operation to build close personal relationships with athletes because they hang out in the same circles day in and day out then I don't know what to tell you. Seems pretty obvious what could and probably would happen. The elite run in close circles and when the only elite in town are gamblers and athletes then use your imagination

OK. You see it as a big issue. I simply don't with all of the scrutiny athletes face in their daily lives. Their every move seems to be tracked with almost no privacy. It would be much easier to have those kind of relationships online vs. in person. Total non issue.

There is no gambling or rubbing elbows with gamblers or anything else shady going on in say, The Big Apple?

Not as much no. Movie stars, rappers, athletes, and other celebs in NYC. In Vegas, the entire economy revolves around gambling. Anyone who is anyone is linked to it. Can't hide from it there

Digs, c'mon bud, there is organized crime, gangs or unsavory persons in every major city in the US. I live in Tampa, and there is still organized crime here.

I don't buy the Vegas mob influence. This is a days gone by of Bugsy Malone and so on. Vegas is corporate Merica now and the gambling is the most heavily regulated so as not to get shut down. Any bet over 3k they track on sports per some interviews this morning.

Yeah, times have changed. It used to be Vegas was Vegas, and the rest of the country was different. Now, you can get anything anywhere and the line is blurred. The Rat Pack and mobsters are the past. Gambling is everywhere, maybe more in Vegas, but not like it used to be. Having said that, I still question Vegas as a market, but time will tell.

He has been saying this for months. He was happy to go to LA as well. And San Antonio (recall "http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/nfl/players/full/13197.png&w=350&h=254).

In his own words..."We don't have a lease right now at the Oakland Coliseum," Davis said. "America, the world is a possibility for the Raider Nation."

If San Antone called him up today and said we have complete financing for a new stadium right now, Davis would announce he was moving there.

Mexico City, anyone?

FWIW, the Vegas economy no longer revolves around gambling. It is so prevalent around the country that they had to change who they were to avoid becoming Atlantic City. It's a party town now. If you want something to be concerned about it should be having players like Johnny Manziel in Vegas not the mob fixing games because a team is there!! It's not the 70's anymore. Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world and that's why the leagues are racing to get there.

I don't gamble, but I usually join my wife when she has to go to Vegas for work. We have friends who live out there and it's cool to see how people live off the strip. I go to two shows a day and have a great time. I really is a great place to be entertained.

(In a sick way, watching a guy lose $15,000 at a black jack table in 10 minutes before I went to breakfast was entertaining, mesmerizing even.)

This is really scaring my liver four years from now when we play them in Las Vegas given they are coming to Buffalo this year. That would be a fun road trip as my oldest son will be 21.

You're mixing up the NFC scheduling rules with the AFC. We could end up playing the Raiders every year, so your liver could be doomed a lot sooner.

And you know what else changed? Players salaries are so high now a mobster couldn't afford to throw a game.

When players only made a couple of grand, you could throw a game with a few thousand bucks. Not anymore.

That's funny PTR. You're right in that every six years we'll have to play there, and every other year if we have the exact same standing could be there. Thanks for scaring my liver.

It's funny as I never have bee a Vegas guy, other than going there for manager meetings which is only a couple of times. Having the Bills play the Vegas Raiders would probably tip me over the edge to go for a weekend. That would be fun.

It's amazing how prevalent this type of thinking is. People make overly simplistic and clichéd assumptions and if you can't understand how "things work", well, they can't help you.

Next we will hear about the future unavoidable and evil combo of Vegas, gamblers, the NFLPA, Ted Olson and the Supreme Court Justices. I mean...right?

If you want to ignore the obvious and live in a world of rainbows and butterflies then you're right, I can't help you. People will believe what they want to believe and when you point out the most basic obvious answer then it's over simplified and clichéd apparently.

Gambling isnt a concern. It is everywhere now. The NFL basically sanctions gambling and is built by it in many forms.

What would be a concern is the 24 hour nightlife there and a lot of temptation into trouble
