machine gun kelly Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Mark - yes, he would need to get 24 to sign off, but the way Goodell's and a couple of owners have responded, it sounds like there may be an appetite to get into that market. Lots of money to be had, and given how much gambling there is near so many stadiums on reservations, why not. It's not like we're still in the days of Bugsy Segal, and Machine Gun Kelly ( well not the original ). Given how many resources they have out there, I would do it in a heartbeat if I were Davis. CA is perpetually broke, and Davis can't foot the bill for a stadium. The one problem I see is that will be an expensive road trip for us as I see that as a very expensive game.

I haven't followed this that closely but if it happens road games in LV is going to jump onto a ton of bucket lists. $$$
Kirby Jackson Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 FWIW, there is a race kind of between the Raiders and the NHL team to get there first. They will be competing for sponsorships, etc... I know some people already out there working for the hockey team in a high capacity. I think that's one of the things that's hard for fans to comprehend. Before the Pegula's bought the Bills the Bills competed off the field way more with the Sabres than the Pats. The teams work together to grow the leagues. The teams that you compete with on the field you work together with off.
Yard Monkey Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 So will they drop the Raiders and go with Locomotives? They should given the storied championship history of the Locomotives vs the Raiders
beerme1 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) You know they'll have the hottest cheerleaders in the league, and that's saying something given the three FL teams are not exactly old maids. I'd hate to see them rename the Raiders, and doubt Mark Davis would ever do that. They are always tied with Dallas of the most jersey sales. Besides my favorite NFL song by far is "The Autumn Wind is a Raider, pillaging just for fun, he'll knock you round and upside down, and laugh when he's conquered and won" C'mon, who does not love that freakin song? I just wish the Bills had something like that. Shout just doesn't have the same effect. Your right. The Shout song is a happy cool good times song. You're Edited May 11, 2016 by beerme1

Mark Vader Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I am convinced that after the debacle that was the 2007 NBA All Star game, no professional franchise would ever be located in Las Vegas. I'll believe it when I see it. I was in Las Vegas that year the weekend after the NBA All Star Game, and one of the cab drivers told me it was a nightmare. The gangs of the east and the gangs of the west all converged on that city and tourists were terrified. People were afraid to leave the casinos because of the shootings and I heard the rooms were left in a big shambles from the NBA guests. I'm with you. I'll believe it when I see it.
Thrivefourfive Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 You guys have been there, right? NFL players in Las Vegas will be a complete circus. But hey, do it right, and they should be able to party, legally for the most part. But I'm afraid, there will be an increase in crazy DUIs, and hard drug charges. There's just too much, ALL the time. City don't sleep, and neither will these football players. They play hard, and live hard. I know one thing, the Vegas ladies of the night will take full advantage of their opportunities with these athletes.

Those are some pretty broad brush strokes you're painting players with here as if the vast majority of guys aren't able to control their impulses and you do so without a shred of statistical evidence to back it up.

Actually I don't think too many 20 somethings worth millions are probably able to control their impulses. I wouldn't have in that situation. There really wouldn't be any "stats" out there to back these things up. If it doesn't involve an arrest there's not going to be a statistic. Plenty of guys are out there partying and going crazy every night, yet they don't get in trouble. Therefore there is no way to quantify the impulse control of young athletes. I would say it's low. I'm not saying there aren't guys who are different, but I do believe it's the minority. With that being said, there is trouble to be found in every city. I don't see Vegas as being a bigger problem than New York or LA as far as trouble for players. You can stay out all night in a lot of cities. It won't scare the NFL away from Vegas. Especially if there is money to be made. That's all they care about. I don't think the NFL is worried about players being hung over. Edited May 11, 2016 by DriveFor1Outta5

Visiting teams are on a tightly scheduled business trip. It's not the Super Bowl with an extra week. NFL players manage to play in New Orleans, Miami, New York and other places with distractions. Might there be a few more DUI's on game day? Sure, that's the case everywhere. But I don't see the trouble coming from the players. I don't see how "hard drug charges" fit in either. Regardless, if there's a team that historically fits the Vegas scene, it just might be the Raiders.

boater Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Oakland is a pimple in Cali. A whitehead waiting to be popped. With minor skill, you can hit the mirror. Oakland is to San Francisco as Depew is to Buffalo. No disrespect to the fine people of Depew. I could easily see Raiders in NV, and thriving. A bazillion hotel rooms and humongous population, it's a no brainer. Edited May 12, 2016 by boater
