John from Riverside Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I am really starting to wonder what Gilmore's contract demands actually are.
YoloinOhio Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I am really starting to wonder what Gilmore's contract demands actually are.i have seen reports over the past month that he wants top 4 CB money. This week, Vic said he wants to be highest paid in the league.

Mr. WEO Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 This is a good move by the Bills. History has shown that there are fewer ways to waste tons of money than by blowing it on "elite CBs". The franchise amount is what he's worth this season. Next year he can go find some other team to spend more on him.

Mr. WEO Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Just be prepared for our 1st round pick next year to be a corner Hey, better than needing to draft a QB in the first. Let them draft another rookie contract CB in the first--that's a value move nowadays. The worst value move is always the second CB contract. It never pays off.
YoloinOhio Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Just be prepared for our 1st round pick next year to be a corneris that a bad thing? There were a bunch of corners picked in the 1st this year. Edited June 17, 2016 by YoloinOhio

Well he's not getting the franchise amount this year, he's getting the 5th year tender on a rookie contract. I suppose he can get what he's worth next year and the year after that. There is no rush to do anything with him, we can hold him here for the foreseeable future.
3rdand12 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 as i noted on my tweeter yesterday, told chances of Bills reaching contract extension with Tyrod Taylor this summer are slim. and they're even slimmer for Gilmore. jw Is this due to timing or an about face might you guess? Seems Whaley was selling this concept of prioritizing Glenn and Gilmore.
26CornerBlitz Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Is this due to timing or an about face might you guess? Seems Whaley was selling this concept of prioritizing Glenn and Gilmore. The Bills always place a certain value on players. It simply appears as if Gilmore's current demands via his agent exceed the value that OBD is willing to pay. Edited June 17, 2016 by 26CornerBlitz
3rdand12 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Gah. I hate this--I really want Gilmore back next year, and while I understand why he wants $15M AAV, that's a ton of money. I'd feel a lot better if a Robey were playing good football the last two years, as that would leave a worst case scenario of needing one starting corner next year. If Gilmore leaves, we really need one of Seymour/White/Moore/Arenas/Butler to step up I might think Seymour would be getting the Coaching up asap. Butler was decent at times. But not having Gilmore changes the game honestly. At least Bills have a year or so to prepare. GAHH is the correct word for me too. Because i think Gilmore is going to get better over the next five years or so i have seen reports over the past month that he wants top 4 CB money. This week, Vic said he wants to be highest paid in the league. Always start high. Thats bargaining 101 Gilmore is a real talent. The cap dictates you can't have real talent everywhere all the time. With guys like Sam Bradford making $83 trillion a year or whatever he makes and Andrew Luck about to doom Indianapolis into an eventual move to San Antonio, I'd prefer to keep Gilmore. I also understand the Bills being cautious because they may need to save money for TT. I don't think there is really anyone to blame here. The Bills are being cautious, Gilmore is doing what he needs to do. I hope he stays. agreed. balanced and reasonable thinking sir The Bills always place a certain value on players. It simply appears as if Gilmore's current demands via his agent exceed the value that OBD is willing to pay. are you being smart assed again ? Nothing is simple to me.. I am suspicious sort To me it sounded that Whaley was presenting to us quite a bit of confidence Gilmore was going to be kept. Did this all change after Normans contract?

It's pretty straight forward it would seem. Gilmore wants to play leap frog into the highest paid CB position.
baskingridgebillsfan Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 They still can tag him for the next two years . Players usully play the first tag year without incident , the second year is where the trouble typically begins. Signing Taylor should be the Prority as the qb cap number is enourous and with out a long contract to spread out the money a huge cap hit. Under what if. They let him go , sign wilkerson with the money and draft a corner in the first round next year ?

Tyrod ( I hope ) should be the Bills priority. So much for keeping the home grown( sign you own) players theory

Who was the last Super Bowl winner that wasn't paying an elite CB top-10 money when they won the title?
