I'll be pretty surprised if Gilmore doesn't get his extension this offseason. And it would not surprise me at all of Taylor gets one during the season.

One dictates the other, I'm sure. If Gilmore is reasonable both will get done.

You know it is amazing how far the bills have actually come even though there are some that dont want admit it

There was a time when we would draft 1st rounders.....and two things would happen

- They would either not be very good

- They actually had talent but we were becoming the place where talented players would go.....get experience....then take a payday with another team.

Two things have happened

- The bills talent evaluation on early picks has become better (it isnt perfect.....we have missed on some players...but still)

- We are keeping those players in the bills colors for that second contract

I know we have not made the playoffs in 15 years....but THAT is the formula (along with being smart in free agency) that winning teams use.

The only thing that is missing (I hope we have hit on this as well) is finding that quarterback......he doesnt have to be a top 5 quarterback.....but he needs to actually be good.

Tyrod....please be that player

Should Bills show Gilmore the money? http://www.wgr550.com/Should-Bills-show-Gilmore-the-money-/22757228#.V0eCDT-SOZE.twitter

It wasn’t too long ago the Buffalo Bills were criticized for letting too many of their best players leave via free agency. Is it possible the opposite will now be an issue for the team? The Bills were up against the salary cap this off season after a spending spree one year ago. They handed out another big contract earlier this month, retaining the services of left tackle Cordy Glenn, and they’re still deciding what to do about Tyrod Taylor and Stephon Gilmore. Both are entering the final year of their contracts.

I don’t think the Bills should give out a big money extension to Taylor. I need to see another good to very good season from Taylor before handing over the kind of money he is seeking. In addition, the Bills always have the franchise tag which would buy them another year with the Virginia Tech product.

I think if we franchise tag him after another good season that is when we will start seeing the not reporting problems......

TT has been pretty cool abut it to this point and I expected him to be.....but if he does well this next season we need to pay the man

A little critical analysis of this article. While everything is essentially correct, Jeff Hunter gives no metric to quantify how far below average Taylor is on third down. Is he dead last or one click below average. We don't know because Jeff Hunter somehow left that detail out.

Hard numbers say his comp % falls by 1.2%, his ypa falls 0.2 yds, his TD/INT ratio drops by one TD and he takes 4 more sacks. To me that doesn't scream massive drop off, but again, Hunter leaves out that data.

He's also comparing a first year starter to long time franchise QBs. Is Taylor's drop a function of inexperience or a flaw in his abilities?

A lot of holes there, Jeff.

6. Stephon Gilmore, Buffalo Bills cornerback: Gilmore's tag team partner Ronald Darby is also a good candidate for his first Pro Bowl after coming in second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Still, it seems wrong for Darby to make it before his veteran teammate who also plays a physical style at the position.

I'm sorry but Sammy Watkins should be #1 on that list. He has a chance this year to become elite. The 2nd half of last season started to show the player that he will be. He should be a dominant, dominant player in this league. I'm thinking 90 catches 1,450 yards and 10 TDs.

And he got absolutely hosed last year. Amari Cooper and Jarvis Landry in the pro bowl ahead of Watkins? That's a joke.

Cooper's numbers weren't as good as Sammy's despite playing 2 more games, and Landry barely eclipsed 10 yards per catch and had a total of 4 TDs.

It's only the Pro Bowl... All Pro team is where they should strive.
