Man Felton's contract is so bad...

The only issue I have is that he only played 26.5% of snaps. Hard to justify that salary if you hardly play him.

I don't think he's a bad player at all. Hard to get in any kind of rhythm when you're in and out so much.

Exactly. They are paying a stupid amount of money for allegedly the best FB in the game, then barely using him. Between Felton and Gay, they're throwing away two roster spots and nearly $3 million for sparingly used luxury roles. Either commit to the FB or get yourself an H-back that can play at TE or in the backfield.

They brought John Conner in at vet minimum last year. As much as I like Jerome, he's not $1.5m a year better than that.

There's a bunch of contracts on the books that make me cringe. Marcus Easley is our #3 highest paid WR for 2016, Percy Harvin is our #2 and he's not even on the roster!!

$1.5m extra isnt crippling or anything for the gap between perceived best in the business vs a mid season walk on, but it is surprising that theyd use him so little despite seeming to make the position a priority in the offseason. not sure where the disconnect happened between off and in season, but its happened quite a bit the last few years. i know everyone has a plan until bullets start flying but if we can find a way to streamline and reduce that, it can improve our odds of success.

for what is regarded as the best player at his position he is a bargain compared to the reality that any other top 5 fb is going to be over $1mm. Guys like Conner just aren't worth itr any more

If you're not using him, having a great one is the absolute definition of a luxury. You're paying for the brand when the no-frills one will be just as good if you barely use it.

It's not necessarily about talent, it's about value per snap. Felton at his price playing every 4th snap just isn't value. Especially considering that Jerome barely played on ST too. With no Boobie Dixon in 2016, maybe he picks up some of those reps.

um, didn't he have a twitter handle devoted to how much he hated Roman?

No big deal IMO. Years ago and just a coach getting on the 11th overall pick's case. Happens all the time.

They can make room for this if they really want to - and they probably should.

Interesting take considering Kap has fell off since Roman and Harbaugh left.

Fell off is putting it lightly. He went from thriving in a system that hid him to spiraling into full on nosedive.

As late as two days ago, my close buddy, a Bay Area guy, HUGE Niners fan, still believes that Kap is a great QB and that Roman was the problem.

I still think Colin is one of the top 32 quarterbacks in the league myself. Not great by any means but worthy of a job somewhere. I think there was a lot at play with his regression.

I think someone (Harbaugh, Roman, whoever) pushed his development too far or too quickly and essentially hung him out to dry. Confidence is a funny thing and I think it deserted him in 2014. Last year with a new coach and a line made entirely out of PlayDoh, it just fell apart for him. Definitely makes me curious to watch Tyrod's development next season.

The fact that Davis is already familiar with Roman's scheme gives Bills some flexibility on when they could do the trade, unless of course other teams were in on it sooner and there was competition.

I mean, it probably won't happen but would be a really great addition IMO.

Completely agree.

I would love to have Davis on this team, if it were possible.

correct. the salary cap cookie jar is pretty much empty until next season. they barely have the $$ to sign draft choices...

We have plenty of $$$ for draft picks. Since you only have to account for the Top 51 players right now, and you only are going to have 3 of your picks(1st, 2nd and 3rd) in the top 51 in salary, you are simply taking the difference between 1st round pick- and Player 49's salary, difference between Round 2 pick and player 50 salary and difference between Round 3 pick and player 51 Salary. Player 49,50,and 51 then get pushed to 52,53 and 54 so their salaries no longer count toward the cap right now. Picks in rounds 4-7 will be well below 51st player on the roster so they dont count.

So this ends up being far less than the whole $6-7 million for their rookie class, somewhere likely between 1/3 to 1/2 of the full amount.

Any questions?

Mystery to me.

He seems underwhelmed with the Niners

@bamdavis_

The 49ers should Draft an Offensive Tackle in the top 10. #NFLDraft2016

I do not want to work with a front office or anyone else who seemingly doesn't want to win as bad as I do.

Would you happily rent your body out to people that bull **** you and constantly try to manipulate you? I hope you'd stand up for yourself.

Incognito bet paid off, but not sure I'd trade much for a guy who basically quit.

i don't think they can even trade him until he officially un-retires, but I could be wrong
