Early 1st Round Mock With Trades

1. New York Jets (via Tennessee) - Carson Wentz / QB / ND State - The Jets move Mo Wilkerson to a team that has the $ to pay him and swap 1st's (as well as other pick compensation) to get their QB of the future.

2. Cleveland Browns - Jared Goff / QB / Cal - Hue Jackson worked wonders with Andy Dalton in Cincy. I think this year we will see just how much his offense had to do with Dalton's success. He takes a guy here who can at least be Cleveland's version, if not better.

3. San Diego Chargers - Laremy Tunsil / OT / Ole Miss - The run on the top two QB's benefits them the most as they are able to get a potential All Pro LT to protect Phillip Rivers' blindside for the remainder of his career.

4. Dallas Cowboys - Jalen Ramsey / CB / FSU - The Cowboys are doing cartwheels in the war room as Ramsey falls into their lap @ #4. Ramsey could very well be the best player in the draft and it just so happens that this is one of the greatest positions of need for the Cowboys.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Myles Jack / LB / UCLA - Jack is a do everything sideline to sideline LB. He can play the run and cover. He has excellent instincts. The guy is just a great athlete and football player. It will essentially be like the Jags had two early 1st's this year as they will get Fowler back and add Jack. They also signed Malik Jackson. This team is a team on the rise.

6. Baltimore Ravens - Joey Bosa / DE / Ohio St. - Suggs is coming off an achilles tear and along with Dumervill they aren't getting any younger. Ozzie Newsome gets some new blood for the pass rush in Baltimore.

7. San Francisco 49ers - Laquon Treadwell / WR / Ole Miss - What have the 49ers done over the last two years that has made any sense? Nothing. Both of the QB's they would have taken are off the board after picks #1 and #2. They have shown quite a bit of interest in Treadwell having had multiple private meetings with him and being present at his Pro Day. They take him here. They have holes all over the place so it doesn't really matter.

8. Philadelphia Eagles - Ezekiel Elliott / RB / Ohio St. - Elliott is a do everything RB who can be on the field for all three downs in the NFL. He's big, fast, strong, can catch the ball, and can block. He has the potential to make a big impact for this offense as a rookie.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Emmanuel Ogbah / DE / Oklahoma St. - There has been quite a bit of interaction between the team and player between workouts and meetings. Ogbah definitely fills a need on the DL and has all of the athletic ability in the world. He also was a force on the field for Ok. St. last year notching 17.5 tfl's to go along with 13 sacks and 3 FF's.

10. New York Giants - Shaq Lawson / DE / Clemson - They just spent a ton of money in FA, but they still don't know what they will get from Pierre-Paul. Shaq Lawson is excellent at what he does, disrupting offenses. Whether he is getting to the QB or stuffing a RB behind the line the guy makes plays. He had 25.5 tfl's and 12.5 sacks, That's a football player.

11. Chicago Bears - Ronnie Stanley / OT / Notre Dame - The Bears OL has been looking for something that works for a long time. You know what would work? Draft Ronnie Stanley, plug him in at LT, and don't worry about your QB's blindside again. At his floor he will be better than what they have. At his ceiling he will be an All Pro.

12. New Orleans Saints - Vernon Hargreaves / CB / Florida - The Saints secondary is turrible, juss turrible. *Charles Barkley voice* Hargreaves will help to change that. He should be a Day 1 starter for one of last year's poorest units in the league.

13. Miami Dolphins - DeForest Buckner / DE / Oregon - They try another Oregon product, only without trading up this time. Buckner has the size and skillset to either play outside or on the interior of the DL. The team still doesn't know what Wake will be able to give them coming off an achilles injury either. They also might want to rid themselves of Wake's contract altogether. They signed Mario Williams also, but will they get Jekyll or Hyde? Buckner would be considered a draft day slide if he fell here by many, but the slide is now over.

14. Oakland Raiders - Sheldon Rankins / DT / Louisville - The Raiders haven't missed out on much this offseason, but they did miss out on Malik Jackson. They now draft a player to fill the interior defensive line. This is a team on the rise and Rankins is just another piece to the puzzle for Jack Del Rio's squad.

The whole complexion of the NC game changed when he went off the field for Clemson.

16. Detroit Lions - Vernon Butler / DT / Louisiana Tech - They have basically been drooling over the guy since the offseason process got underway. Senior Bowl, workouts, combine, private meetings. Now the only thing left to do is draft the guy.

17. Atlanta Falcons - Leonard Floyd / OLB / Georgia - Dan Quinn needs guys who can get to the QB and Floyd is still on the board. He won't have to pack up and move very far going from the University of Georgia to the Atlanta Falcons.

18. Indianapolis Colts - Jack Conklin / OT / Michigan St. - Andrew Luck has suffered behind a horrid OL for years. If they don't get it fixed then his shelf life will be that much shorter than other franchise QB's in this league. Conklin is a step in the right direction.

19. Denver Broncos (via Buffalo Bills) - Paxton Lynch / QB / Memphis - Elway doesn't want to come up off of the money for Colin Kaepernick despite just moving Clady in a trade with the Jets. They lost Osweiler in FA and have been scrambling ever since. They draft Lynch and they have a guy to work with for at least the next 4 years. Elway is good with swapping first round picks with the Bills and giving up their 2nd to make this move as his team is still pretty loaded with talent across the board.

They have Taylor Lewan, but I believe he is viewed as more of a RT of the future for them. 21. Washington Redskins - A'Shawn Robinson / DT / Alabama - Robinson experiences what some might view as a draft day slide landing with the Redskins @ #21, but he lands with a team that has a need and he can make an immediate impact for.

22. Houston Texans - William Fuller / WR / Notre Dame - Hopkins is a beast. Just think if he had another threat opposite him that could take the lid off the of the coverage blanket around him. They went out and signed a big, strong armed QB and now add the elite speed threat at WR to compliment their All Pro WR. This offense has the potential to be scary next year.

23. Minnesota Vikings - Josh Doctson / WR / TCU - Greg Jennings didn't work out. Mike Wallace didn't work out. Charles Johnson fell off the map last year. Stephon Diggs came out of nowhere to have a solid season, but they still need help for Bridgewater. I think it is one of the better landing spots Doctson could have asked for.

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Jarran Reed / DT / Alabama - Cincy could use some help along the DL as well as at WR. They signed Brandon LaFell so I think they wait to the 2nd and grab a WR. Here they get one of the most solid DT prospects in the draft. He's not really disruptive, but he is a space eater who plays the run well. A nice compliment to Geno Atkins.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers - William Jackson / CB / Houston - He absolutely lit it up at the combine and you could say he helped his stock the most out of anyone. He's fast, fluid, and showed well on the field. Pittsburgh's secondary is in need of playmakers and get themselves one here.

26. Seattle Seahawks - Germain Ifedi / OT / Texas A&M - The Seahawks have a glaring need at OT despite who they've signed in FA. You have a franchise QB and no matter how mobile he is you still need to protect him. They lost Okung in FA and the OL needs work so Ifedi is an extremely logical choice here.

27. Green Bay Packers - Reggie Ragland / LB / Alabama - The Packers are going to be shifting Clay Matthews back to the outside this year and Ragland is the top ILB prospect on the board. He is a plug and play starter for them. Easy choice.

28. Kansas City Chiefs - Keanu Neal / S / Florida - A hard hitting Safety to pair with Eric Berry in the defensive backfield. The signing of Mitchell Schwartz allows them to wait until at least the 2nd to address the OL.

29. Arizona Cardinals - Eli Apple / CB / Ohio St. - Mathieu is coming off of another ACL surgery and Peterson basically stands alone. They traded for Chandler Jones so a pass rusher isn't as high on the list anymore either. I think this makes a lot of sense and would also help Apple's development to be brought up by two the two CB's aforemetioned.

30. Carolina Panthers - Su'a Cravens / S / USC - The Panthers have shown a lot of interest in the USC product. He's a bigger in the box type of Safety, but he has the coverage skills as well. He played LB at USC, but has said he wants to play Safety in the NFL. His versatility will just add to an already stout defense.

31. Buffalo Bills (via Denver Broncos) - Darron Lee / LB / Ohio St. - Moved back to the last pick in the first round, while picking up a 2nd, and STILL able to grab one of the most versatile LB's in the draft. Lee can be a three down player for this defense and helps fill a position of need. The Bills will also now have 5 more picks in the next three rounds of the draft. WIN!

Billings would be perfect for our DL.....allowing Marcel to move to DE as I really dont want a 100 million dollar player playing NT....and BIllings is actually quite versitile and could play DE as well he is so damn quick for a player his size

23. Minnesota Vikings - Josh Doctson / WR / TCU - Greg Jennings didn't work out. Mike Wallace didn't work out. Charles Johnson fell off the map last year. Stephon Diggs came out of nowhere to have a solid season, but they still need help for Bridgewater. I think it is one of the better landing spots Doctson could have asked for.

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Jarran Reed / DT / Alabama - Cincy could use some help along the DL as well as at WR. They signed Brandon LaFell so I think they wait to the 2nd and grab a WR. Here they get one of the most solid DT prospects in the draft. He's not really disruptive, but he is a space eater who plays the run well. A nice compliment to Geno Atkins.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers - William Jackson / CB / Houston - He absolutely lit it up at the combine and you could say he helped his stock the most out of anyone. He's fast, fluid, and showed well on the field. Pittsburgh's secondary is in need of playmakers and get themselves one here.

26. Seattle Seahawks - Germain Ifedi / OT / Texas A&M - The Seahawks have a glaring need at OT despite who they've signed in FA. You have a franchise QB and no matter how mobile he is you still need to protect him. They lost Okung in FA and the OL needs work so Ifedi is an extremely logical choice here.

27. Green Bay Packers - Reggie Ragland / LB / Alabama - The Packers are going to be shifting Clay Matthews back to the outside this year and Ragland is the top ILB prospect on the board. He is a plug and play starter for them. Easy choice.

28. Kansas City Chiefs - Keanu Neal / S / Florida - A hard hitting Safety to pair with Eric Berry in the defensive backfield. The signing of Mitchell Schwartz allows them to wait until at least the 2nd to address the OL.

29. Arizona Cardinals - Eli Apple / CB / Ohio St. - Mathieu is coming off of another ACL surgery and Peterson basically stands alone. They traded for Chandler Jones so a pass rusher isn't as high on the list anymore either. I think this makes a lot of sense and would also help Apple's development to be brought up by two the two CB's aforemetioned.

30. Carolina Panthers - Su'a Cravens / S / USC - The Panthers have shown a lot of interest in the USC product. He's a bigger in the box type of Safety, but he has the coverage skills as well. He played LB at USC, but has said he wants to play Safety in the NFL. His versatility will just add to an already stout defense.

31. Buffalo Bills (via Denver Broncos) - Darron Lee / LB / Ohio St. - Moved back to the last pick in the first round, while picking up a 2nd, and STILL able to grab one of the most versatile LB's in the draft. Lee can be a three down player for this defense and helps fill a position of need. The Bills will also now have 5 more picks in the next three rounds of the draft. WIN!

 

this is exactly what I want to happen but draft Connor Cook instead. Also prefer not to trade that far down but will take it if need be.

looking over it again I would rather did the Jets deal and move up for Wentz, I just have a feeling he is going to be special because of his leadership and playmaking abilities.

Nice job overall, but there's no way the Jets can move from 20 to 1 overall. It's just not feasible. Mo Wilkerson doesn't make a dent in the compensation that would be required. Point values on the standard draft value chart are 3000 for #1 and 850 for #20. They'd be looking at 3 firsts, Wilkerson and much more. The RG3 trade would look reserved.

i don't see it happening. he is only one of maybe 2 premier olb's in this draft. there is a sharp falloff at the position and in rex's system... i don't know if he and the team pass up DT for anything.

If I can be guaranteed Lee, then doing that trade is a no-brainer for the Bills.

 

Given this scenario, I wonder if we dont see the Bills take Lynch at 19 anyways, and then use him as trade bait for the later teams to make sure their guy is still there. As opposed to a trade going down at the time we pick.

I don't think dso because teams like KC could move on a QB or people could try to move back into the first like Dallas or San Fran.

Kevin Dodd doesn't go in the first? Personally I think I'd like him at 31 more than Lee but I appreciate the write up.

Dodd is OK, but he benefitted much from the space eater bedside him in Reader and the attention given to Lawson. His NC performance was against the weakest link of the Alabama OL.

Smith would be extremely tempting as I am an ND fan as well, but I think the unknown of what the knee injury has taken from his game makes me wait. If he's available with our second 2nd I might take that chance.... Might

Its not the way I would go if it fell out this way......I really like DT Billings in that spot

 

Billings would be perfect for our DL.....allowing Marcel to move to DE as I really dont want a 100 million dollar player playing NT....and BIllings is actually quite versitile and could play DE as well he is so damn quick for a player his size

 

I would then use both of our 2nd round picks on LBs

I think we are going to target Reader in the 3rd or 4th which does the same thing with Dareus.

Actually no...not in my scenario......

 

In my scenario I take a big fat ugly defensive linemen who us unaturally quick for his size but also incredibally strong

 

THe rock that offenses will break against.....and since he is strong enough to consistantly tie up 2 OL......lesser linebackers will be free to scrape and make plays

You're saying: #20, #83, next year's second and Mo Wilkerson for #1 overall? That's a complete joke. And Wilkerson, who has recently been in legal trouble, suspended by the league and is playing on a franchise tag, is big value in this trade? Also a joke. Fine player, but terrible baggage and contract situation If you added first round picks in 2017 and 2018 you'd be in the right ballpark. That's about what it would take and there's no way the Jets throw that at them.
