Dr. Who
The General. I own it in blue ray. The last great silent film, and it was the most expensive film made for many decades. 93% on rotten tomatoes is pretty good too. Buster Keaton was a comedic genius that is underappreciated http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1008166-general/ Coincidentally, Turner Classic Movies showed this a few days ago. It is really entertaining. You get my vote for most distracting avatar, btw.

Dr. Who
Ah, forgot to answer. I don't have a single favorite movie. I tend to break down favorites into categories. Dystopic sci-fi: Bladerunner Fun fantasy: Star Wars, though The Empire Strikes Back is better. Family: The Black Stallion Classic American: Casablanca Film Noir: Tie between The Big Sleep and The Third Man Screwball comedy: The Awful Truth Thriller Comedy: Charade Sentimental: I Remember Mama Baseball: The Natural Romantic Comedy: Roman Holiday Western: Stagecoach, Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Searchers (John Wayne is underrated as an actor.) Artsy American: Tree of Life And I like lots of foreign films: Wild Strawberries, Chungking Express, Babette's Feast . . .

Acantha
"Favorite" threads never make it past the first page before turning into "every really good one you can think of" threads. Without a doubt The Stand by Stephen King Wow, really? The book I can understand, but I've never heard of the movie being talked about that highly. Miyagi-Do Karate
Last of the Mohicans It has everything: great cast, great dialogue, historically significant, great drama, solid action scenes, and an incredible musical score. Phenomenal score! Same with shawshank-- great movie but great score too. For my favorite movie, gotta go with Karate Kid 1.
