I remember Joe and Tony Kubek doing the Saturday afternoon games. back then it was one of the few times you came in to watch TV from playing outside. That of course has reversed now sadly. RIP Joe!

Me too. ESPN, FOX Sports, Direct TV, etc were not around so it was the only game you could see. While it's great to have the option to watch any game any day of the week, I've become desensitized. The games are no longer an event, rather just one of many insignificant games airing daily that I have zero interest in watching.

Joe was a classic. Over saturated with baseball now. Was better in the ole days when Saturday was the day

Embarrassed. When I heard he died, I told my daughter "The Green Grocer" died...the guy that used to be on tv when I was a kid showing off nice veggies.

I honestly thought he was an ex-baseball player who was a paid spokesman for fresh vegetables back int he 70's and 80's.

I'm so confused.

RIP Joe G. (and Joe C. who died in 1988)
