H2o Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports the Jets "have interest" in acquiring Josh McCown. The Jets have been at a stalemate with free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick and have begun discussing other options. In Cleveland, McCown seems likely to be the odd man out with coach Hue Jackson wanting to go with a veteran -- likely Robert Griffin III -- and an early-round rookie. The Jets would prefer McCown be released rather than having to trade for him, but Cimini ranks McCown as the most likely quarterback to land with the Jets should they not re-sign Fitzpatrick http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/59226/examining-josh-mccown-and-the-jets-other-quarterback-options
plenzmd1 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 nothing but trying to put pressure on Fitz...similar to when we brought in the guard from NO two days before Richie re-signed.
YoloinOhio Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I actually thought mccown was better than Fitz when healthy last year. Not a bad option for them at all.
BuffaloBill Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Has anyone else shown interest in Fitz? What overage does he have if other teams are not pursuing him?
Jamie Nails Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Given our history with both, this could very easily be the Bills. Thank god for Tyrod. Don't envy the team that has to pressure Fitz to sign by floating McCown trade rumors.
Captain Hindsight Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 The Jets want the Browns castoff to replace a Bills castoff Do it!
KD in CA Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Has anyone else shown interest in Fitz? What overage does he have if other teams are not pursuing him? He's overplaying his hand IMO. Jets just might decide to take a guy who'd be thrilled with the job at $4M instead of a guy who is insulted at $10M.
YoloinOhio Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 The Jets want the Browns castoff to replace a Bills castoff Do it! well if you put it that way...
H2o Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 If you ask me they are pretty similar, though I may dare to say that Fitz is a bit more athletic than McCown. Similar strengths and weaknesses.
YoloinOhio Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 journeyman on journeyman crimewe need throw Hoyer into the mix! If only Orton was sober I mean not retired.

3rdand12 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 If you ask me they are pretty similar, though I may dare to say that Fitz is a bit more athletic than McCown. Similar strengths and weaknesses. Fitz is a fool to walk away from Gailey

H2o Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Fitz is a fool to walk away from Gailey Gailey helped make him rich for sure. He is tailor made for that system, but he is still Fitz and cracks on the biggest of stages.
3rdand12 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Gailey helped make him rich for sure. He is tailor made for that system, but he is still Fitz and cracks on the biggest of stages. agreed, but Fitz hits his ceiling under Gailey. ye ole Tomato Farmer
eball Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I actually thought mccown was better than Fitz when healthy last year. Not a bad option for them at all. Yeah, I had the same first thought. Better for us if Fitzy re-signs than if the Jets get McCown.
BADOLBILZ Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I actually thought mccown was better than Fitz when healthy last year. Not a bad option for them at all. McCown and Hoyer are made of glass. If they pinch a penny for one of those two they might as well figure on Geno starting 6-8 games. I'd like that.
