What are they "afraid" of.  I have no idea why the city leaders are allowing this to go on.

They're deathly afraid of the violent members of their base and don't want it turned on them.  Plus they need their votes.

That's the rub.

The smallest minority controls the microphone right now on the left, and because of their social media status (and demographic composition), corporate America (i.e the DNC) is terrified of the mob. Thus, they kowtow to them as if they represented the majority view.

Fear is driving this.

It is almost as if she does not understand she has a right to vote due in large part to the sacrifices of Susan B. and her posse. Real feminists have to be rolling over in their graves. What passes for feminism today in no way resembles what the feminists of 100+ (heck, 50) years ago endured.

Cancel Susan B Anthony because Trump pardoned her. SMH TDS really is a mental disorder.

the one quote they use from her is not racist, and then they attribute other people’s quotes who she associated with, due to the common goal of women’s suffrage, to her

the left has lost their minds

the only play they have is to:

1) ignore and hope the media also covers for them

2) when forced to address, twist the narrative to fit that this is mostly peaceful and the violence is white nationalists and other agitators have hijacked the peaceful protests

3) when that doesn’t work, say this is a necessary step to root our systematic racism

4) and always, blame trump

they can’t stop this because that’s tacit admission that their city and their policies have failed and that their base is comprised of animals.

fortunately, most people see right through it.

THE ECONOMIC DAMAGE OF RIOTING LASTS FOR DECADES:

How might the riots be responsible for these outcomes? The National Bureau of Economic Research suggests a number of ways:

Property risk might seem higher in central city neighborhoods than before the riots, causing insurance premiums to rise; taxes for income redistribution or more police and fire protection might increase, and municipal bonds may be more difficult to place; retail outlets might close; businesses and employment opportunities might relocate; middle and higher income households might move away; burned out buildings might be an eyesore; and so on. These damaging aspects of riots, the authors find, apparently outweighed outside assistance directed toward the riot areas in the wake of the disturbances.

The Minnesota Reformer reported in mid-July that:

At least 127 people are facing charges related to the unrest after Floyd’s death, according to a Reformer review of all unrest-related charges filed so far by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Hennepin County, Ramsey County, the city of St. Paul and the city of Minneapolis. The vast majority of people charged are Minnesota residents — but fewer than half live in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

It might be fun for some people to travel to a riot, smash some stuff up, and head home thinking they have struck a blow for some cause or other. The evidence shows that it is those left behind who pay the costs.

Or as James Lileks wrote yesterday of Minneapolis:

They had stories of what it’s like to live downtown now, and if I could sum it up, it would be this: SUDDENLY CRAZY. Emboldened lawlessness. A year ago: living in a beautiful neighborhood with spectacular views, access to parks and restaurants, peaceable dog walks after dark. Now: Carjackings, fireworks, madmen muttering outside the front door, a spiky sense that anything outside of a block or two radius is questionable. These are long-time downtown residents.

It should be noted that they did not gentrify anything and drive out residents; the area was utterly depopulated until the condos were built in the husks of the old industrial buildings. They pay a huge amount of taxes. And they feel as if no one has their back, because no one does.

It’s not that no one can fight the disorder. It’s that there aren’t enough resources, and disorder is something they’re expected to accept.

It took 20 years to build up this part of the city, and three months to spoil it.

THE MEDIA GASLIGHTING ISN’T WORKING:

Most say ‘protests’ have become ‘riots,’ new high in support for police.

Support for police has surged past 4-1 in key battleground 2020 states, likely driven by concerns that “peaceful” Black Lives Matter protests have become more violent.

A new survey for Heritage Action For America found that opposition to defunding the police, part of the Black Lives Matter movement, has jumped to 79%, with just 16% supporting the defund plan.

That opposition to slashing police is the highest of any recent poll, and a strong indicator that the type of law and order message pushed by President Trump and the GOP has support in Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where the survey was conducted.

Virginia Democrat hit with felony charges in monument destruction

A Virginia state senator has been charged with two felonies for her alleged involvement in the damaging of a large Confederate monument during protests in the city of Portsmouth, authorities said Monday.

WAVY-TV reports Democratic state Sen. Louise Lucas faces charges of of conspiracy to commit a felony and injury to a monument in excess of $1,000.

</snip>

The only story I could find on that WAVYTV site was this one which complains about the people being arrested.
