There's no room for "reasonable" discussion and solutions when the anger is this high. Which makes it all the more insane that the media has enabled that anger without thinking it through. That split will be exacerbated as we approach November. I have a good idea, let’s give them less money to train and hire more qualified people with, and then pay them less! That seems like it will work, right?” ...THE phrase that I absolutely loathe.......caustic, indignant, arrogant and as demeaning as one can get as if spoken from a position of superiority.....just effin' hate it..... 1

I'm sure they are going to use this police budget reduction to cut out pork, overlapping programs, and use a laser focus on what is good for policing the communities! ? hahahahahaa I crack myself up sometimes. 2 3
Capco Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Why are cops slashing tires of parked cars, destroying private property, and even destroying their own cruisers in some cases?

You when mean acting on the 1st Amendment right to peaceably protest and assemble in accordance with any laws, curfews, and regulations regarding them still gets you beaten unnecessarily? If that is considered a "Stupid Game" then I suppose so. There are people out there breaking the law, but there are also protesters and press who are obliging everything they are being told to do and are still receiving heavy handed acts of violence.

There are several examples of tire slashings and at least 2 examples of private property destruction (smashing windows of empty, parked cars and smashing what appeared to be a door). The video of the police (I think NYPD) destroying their own cruiser wasn't in that montage, but if I come across it again I'll post it right away. Cops were even spray painting graffiti on the cruiser to make it look like the act of a rioter. It was nuts. 2 minutes ago, Buffalo_Gal said: I think the one where you pointed out the cop had to finish kicking out his broken front window so he could drive away? You're right, I just found this article about it. It was Boston, not NY. No, I meant you are playing a stupid game by linking a video intended to inflame tensions by showing brief scenes of police using force on people without any context or explanation of what is occurring. Your stupid prize will be revealed later. 3 1

It's not them destroying the car, the car was destroyed and they needed to clear the windshield to drive away. Funny how context changes things... 1

Your stupid prize will be revealed later. Oh really? Since you know so much about my intentions, tell me, what do I intend to have for dinner tonight? Pointing out a scene where a woman respectfully asks "what's going to happen at 8, sir?" only to hear the response "what's gonna happen is we're gonna start beating the ***** out of you" isn't worthy of note? (that's the final clip in the montage, last 15 seconds if you want to quickly verify it). @Deranged Rhino Correct, there's a lot at play here. Emotions are high on all sides. That means mistakes are bound to happen. That doesn't mean we should excuse the mistakes entirely though. For the most part the officers around are doing a good job I think. The protesting in my area has all been peaceful, and cops have joined in on several occasions. Still, any cops (and protesters) not following protocol should be reprimanded accordingly. I think that's only fair. 4 minutes ago, Buffalo_Gal said: So, "and even destroying their own cruisers in some cases?" is completely disingenuous. I stand corrected ma'am. As I said, I appreciate you clarifying the matter for me. It still doesn't explain the tire slashings and window smashings, etc. And when I asked about these things, I wasn't trying to be facetious. Just because I disagree with many posters here politically doesn't mean there isn't value to be had at times. Like just now. 2

The mayor of Minneapolis ***** his pants in that moment. He also interpreted the request to defund as a request to abolish. He could have said he would commit to reinvest a portion of the police budget into the black community, and offer to sit down with the community to listen to their funding priorities... As far as Sleepy Joe, I had zero excitement or faith in his candidacy. Don't get me started... After the past week, I think most Americans would prefer Biden take a nap in the Oval Office for the next four years. I'd vote for Mr. Potato Head at this point. How's this -- Sleepy Joe, because America needs a nap... Sleepy Joe-- because we're ***** exhausted...

He also interpreted the request to defund as a request to abolish. He did, no argument. But he didn't misinterpret that. It was stated directly by the woman who asked the question: "we don't want no more police". Again, arguing (not you, the general you) that the word "defund" doesn't mean what it actually means is a very disingenuous position. Doubly so when half the crowd screaming it means EXACTLY that. It's a confusing message that's splitting the party rather than uniting it. 4 minutes ago, Motorin' said: He could have said he would commit to reinvest a portion of the police budget into the black community, and offer to sit down with the community to listen to their funding priorities... That wouldn't have been enough in that moment. The crowd wanted him to say no more police. Full stop. That's what a contingent of this group wants to achieve. And when you suggest a rational solution, they will not hear it. Which boxes centrist democrats into a no win position entirely of their own making. 4 minutes ago, Motorin' said: As far as Sleepy Joe, I had zero excitement or faith in his candidacy. Yet he was forced on the party by its elites regardless of his shortcomings. You should really ask yourself why that choice was made. Edited June 7, 2020 by Deranged Rhino 1 1

Fwiw, the organizer who asked the mayor this question said "we don't want any police in our city" or something to that effect just a couple seconds before he answered. 1
