If the police are "strongly encouraging" people to abandon their property to a roving gang of masked thugs, to surrender the fruits of their labor to the whims of some hired agitators who only see strength in numbers....why the heck wouldn't I need to have a weapon at the re easy with the capacity to efficiently dispatch large numbers of my enemies? It just seems the message from the PR department should be "gather and Protest peacefully, but if you start to riot we will put you down.".
