Saxum Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Situation sounds very dire... Prayers go out for Tray.... This is horrible. Mt thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family My prayers go out to the Florida education system which is one of the worst in the country and does not educate its citizens enough to understand how dangerous that driving without a helmet is.

Are people in Florida different in that this actually has to be explained to them?
Saxum Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Are people in Florida different in that this actually has to be explained to them? Absolutely. Most are senile of imports from Cuba.

Are people in Florida different in that this actually has to be explained to them? There are many experienced motorcycle riders -- who aren't idiots -- who will argue that wearing a helmet reduces their visibility and awareness on the bike. They freely admit that in a crash they will "lose" but believe their ability to avoid accidents by not wearing a helmet outweighs that risk. It's not my opinion, but just throwing it out there. Best wishes to the injured player.
3rdand12 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 My brother in law wrecked his street bike at speed. he still has the helmet. its got a ground out mark where he slid on his head for about a hundred feet he guesses. Helmet is useless now , except as a reminder. heck i almost made it out the driveway once without my seatbelt once. i was feeling all weird. I was thrown through a windshield when i was a stupid teenager. scars to prove it. Nobody wore seatbelts when i was kid. Couple years ago i totalled my performance car badly enough to break every piece of glass in the car and fold almost every body panel Only reason i survived that was seat belts. Guess you don't know , till you know. and than it may be too late. I was lucky a couple times over Hope the kid gets to learn his lesson I am not criticising the kid. and I sure hope he recovers fully. I really do. : (
gr8billsfan Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hopefully he heals well! Suspicious about the Pats player. Hopefully it was Brady.

Best wishes to the injured player. This was the point of my post. No person other than a young child is not aware of the risks of riding without a helmet. Made no sense to blame the choice to ride without on the "educational system".
DrDawkinstein Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Horrible to hear, best wishes to Tray and his family. Although tough to feel too badly for him if he choose not to wear a helmet. I dumped a bike at barely 20mph when a car pulled in front of me and I swerved and hit a curb. I couldnt believe the damage my helmet took, and what that would have done to my head/face had I not been wearing it. So stupid not to. There's probably another discussion to be had about players, helmets, concussions, CTE, and suing the NFL, but Im not even sure where to start with some of these dummies.
sodbuster Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 When you hop on a bike you're taking a small risk. When you hop on without a brain bucket, you're taking an unnecessary risk. We can only hope that this unfortunate incident serves as a reminder for some.

My cousin had a motorcycle accident and wore a helmet despite it not being required to at time in New York State because his father, a motorcycle cop, used to describe motorcycle riders without helmets as "riders who had no use for brains and after accident will have none". My cousin thanked him for advice after his accident. With current technology they could make helmets with much better vision but they would cost a lot more and most will not spend that much. It is similar to the argument on better football helmets.

3rdand12 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 ya'll arguing about helmets here is ridiculous. rip dude. no it aint at all. this may not have occurred at least to this degree. his life may have been spared just sucks when a kid is gone. it really does
boyst Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 no it aint at all. this may not have occurred at least to this degree. his life may have been spared just sucks when a kid is gone. it really does i do understand what you are saying and would agree if this was a day or two later, maybe. but as soon as the guy dies acting like vultures circling a guy holding up a poster about an issue. we do not know the whole story at this point. a helmet may not have prevented it. i agree with ya'll. always wear sunscreen.
K D Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wow sad news! Wonder what happened and who was the Pats player that was with him that went into hiding afterwards?
Dorkington Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Have to wonder if street racing was involved, since the other dude is in hiding.
