Season of change: Free agency shakes up hierarchy

By Elliot Harrison - NFL Media analyst

Lamar Miller signed with the Texans. Bruce Irvin inked a deal with the Raiders. Chandler Jones was traded to the Cardinals. How does the frenzy affect the NFL pecking order? Elliot Harrison weighs in.

BILLS

Guessing Bills fans are upset receiver Chris Hogan won't be running around Ralph Wilson Stadium this year. Or maybe they're more upset that he will -- for the Evil Empire. Seriously, Hogan joining the AFC East-ruling Patriots would be like Chewbacca fitting his hairy pits into an XXXL stormtrooper outfit (that option cannot be unlocked in "Star Wars: Battlefront"). You know what? That's economics. Football economics -- a course I plan to teach at Adams College this summer -- dictates that teams must pay to retain their offensive lines. That's where pro football is won. If only the Browns were paying attention, say, in this instance, or this instance.

I thought it was fair to generous in the spot they placed us.

Let's hope all of these analysts who are placing so much stock in Whaley's ability to draft a bunch of Rex's guys and miraculously pull it all together.

Juuuust outside the playoffs/top 12. Welp good thing we don't take the field for 6 months, eh. Much can change.

Also NFL power rankings as useless as Mario Williams but I look at them anyway.

That's pretty generous. They must be expecting better production from the defense. 2 Ryan's hopefully are better than 1

double the pregnancy double the laughs double the shenanigans double the trouble double the baby bubble.....this will either destroy the defense or build it back into a monster.....he coached the defense very well in the last 2 games....considering we were missing half our starters and played 2 ****ty teams, well the jets werent ****ty they just played ****ty against us both times.

Patriots, Panthers at the top of post-free-agency Power Rankings

21. Buffalo Bills

2015 record: 8-8

Voting results: 365 points

Post-Super Bowl ranking: No. 18rd-arrow.png

Stats & Information's take: The Bills don't have much cap space, and it shows. Their two free-agent signings -- safety Robert Blanton and TE Jim Dray -- combined to play 641 snaps last season.

The 4-12 Cowboys are ranked many spots above us. As are the Jets- who have been the Bills B word the last 3 years. It is always better to be underestimated

Why do they talk about Hogan?

Because the Pat's signed him. If he went to Miami or San Diego. We may not know that he left the Bills until training camp.

Sick and tired of the gilded Pats, but when you have a great QB, you gotta let it play out - but 20 yrs is absurd!

The big free-agency shakeup
Prisco: The Broncos are still the champs but they're not even in top five in the rankings after getting picked apart in free agency. Here's who is.

17 BUF.png The defense took a step back last season, which was strange under Rex Ryan. The big issue is whether Tyrod Taylor was a one-hit wonder or not. I don't think he was.

14th is about right IMO. That's where they finished last season if you go by draft slotting (they're 14th if you count draft order from 32 to 19). WTF is the Hogan BS, though? Why does the entire Bills write up have to be about the Cheatriots?
