Kirby Jackson
To sign more good players. We should be exsctatic at how proactive the front office is trying to maximize what the cap gives the team. My question is more "which players?" Â Contract for Glenn and Gilmore? That actually does the opposite. When those 2 get long term deals it will free up cap space this year. Kirby Jackson
 Kyle Williams hasn't even been the team's best defensive tackle for 3 years. Agreed  Also, can we change the title from Kyle Williams restructures to Kyle Williams takes a pay cut? They are different and a pay cut is what appears took place: http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/23999/kyle-williams-appears-to-take-1-75-million-pay-cut-from-bills  Also, with it being a pay cut and not a restructure I take back everything I asked earlier. There is not a single possible negative for anyone but the Williams' family. This is a big win for the Bills. Fan in Chicago
Â Kyle Williams hasn't even been the team's best defensive tackle for 3 years. But an indispensable member of it. Which makes me like the meatball even more..... Â I am not sure how he fits in this defense....but I do hope Williams can find his way into a productive season. Fair to question his exact fit in Ryan's defense, but he has proven to be flexible and selfless enough to make any DL role fit him

Dorkington
He seems like the sort of guy that the FO can come to and say 'look, this is what we're trying to do, is there anything you can do to help?'... or maybe they just threatened to cut him, who knows... either way, we keep Kyle, he still stays rich by society's standards, and the Bills have a bit more wiggle room to make the team better. machine gun kelly
I'm sorry but I am not understanding the restructures at this point? Why are they so set on freeing up cap space for this year? Where do they plan on going with it at this point? KJ - the Bills win to get more cap to deal with Glenn's long term contract, and get some breathing room. Kyle gets more money up front and the Bills spread it out over a couple of years. The Bills know they have $50-54 mil under the cap next year so they have the breathing room to keep everyone. Kyle's risk is next year the Bills say your almost 34, now we need you to take a pay cut. I expect them telling him this in a year, and he'll take it as your going to get next to nothing on the market at 34. Â Great move for both sides and expected. This is probably the last of the restructuring. They'll probably cut Carpenter for more cap if they draft someone. I fully expect they will take one of their 4th round picks and get that FSU kicker. Basically save the Bills Carpenter's and that kick off specialist together. That's what I would do. I still don't expect any free agents until maybe a couple of cheap role guys that fits Rex's defensive scheme. Basically it's wait for the draft, and Whaley is pretty good on UFA cheap. klos63
that is a BIG difference. Cool. he likely got told that the axe was coming unless changes were made and he decided to stay put instead of uprooting his family. He also may have been told this might be coming when they added a year to his contract last season, in a move that gave no cap relief.
NickelCity
Nice move. I'm not worried about the cap to be honest. If we can sign cordy and gilmore and add an NT and kerley, I'd call FA a success. Granted, that may be asking too much. Plus I'm guessing we use a rookie NT. You could also say he took a pay cut because the alternative was being released They may be trying to do a long term deal with Glenn and they still need to sign draft picks and undrafted FAs A long term deal with Glenn would most likely reduce his cap hit from current salary so no need to create space to sign Glenn

Kirby Jackson
Did they make him faster and younger? No, but they did make him $1.75M less expensive. it's pretty hard to not view it as a win for the Bills.
