Beerball
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 2m2 minutes ago Former Rams DE Chris Long is signing a 1-year deal with the Patriots, per @wingoz. Long helps replace Chandler Jones. Why does this make you happy?
machine gun kelly
Long has been injured a lot over the last couple of years. This was a downgrade by far from Jones. They do need offensive lineman deperately, and may get value from a 2nd round pick. This one doesn't worry me at all.
YoloinOhio
I think Long will probably play in a rotation and do ok. But he's only started 11 games in last 2 seasons so that's concerning. He's a decent rotational add for them but not a true replacement for Jones. They will still need to draft one. Webster Guy
@MikeRedact 4m Patriots' GM reaches out to Aaron Kampman and Brandon Stokely as team looks to get older and whiter. Never NEVER Give-up
The Pats have become a destination for quality players near the end of their careers who want a shot at a SuperBowl ring- Rodney Harrison, Randy Moss, Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon, Junior Seau. Any others I forgot? Agree in one way, but they also dump the same type of guys who can help them (to dump salaries): Malloy, Welker, Seymour, Vrabel, Vineteri (sp), Ty Law, Asante Samuel & Willfork Cannot argue with what works. I think the guys they dump are better than what they pick-up, but the pick-ups fit the budget. As a result, they are perennially good, but not a lock on the Super Bowl.
