26CornerBlitz Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Yep. There goes that thought. To the contrary. Carpenter could very well wind up getting cut if the Bills decide to draft a Kicker.
Marty McFly Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 To the contrary. Carpenter could very well wind up getting cut if the Bills decide to draft a Kicker. You think they re-structured in the possibility of cutting him to lower the hit?
26CornerBlitz Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) You think they re-structured in the possibility of cutting him to lower the hit? Yep. He was set to receive a roster bonus very soon. Now he'll only get that money if he makes the 53 man roster. Edited March 15, 2016 by 26CornerBlitz

Captain_Quint Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Draft Aguyo/Landis (Landus will be undrafted) and cut Carp/Sand-bore.... out with the old, in with the new.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 @mikerodak Bills put struggling K Dan Carpenter on notice, giving him $500k pay cut he can earn back if he makes the team: http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/23982/bills-give-dan-carpenter-pay-cut-putting-struggling-kicker-on-notice
Dave in Avon Lake now Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I wasn't sure what this meant when I first saw it, but makes sense as he is a very reliable field goal kicker. Not sure what the problem was on XP's. Wish we didn't need KO specialist, but don't know how much that really impacts us.
3rdand12 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Yep. He was set to receive a roster bonus very soon. Now he'll only get that money if he makes the 53 man roster. He had to accept the restructure right? another 500k towards Glenns contract. seems like more show than substance. I did expect a million off the top when i first saw the title.

3rdand12 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 He could have refused and been released maybe that is my point. Thanks for the clear answer though Nucci
Freddie's Dead Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 @mikerodak Dan Carpenter’s $250k roster bonus had been due this week. Now it will be paid if he’s on 53-man roster for 1st game of season. @mikerodak Pretty safe to say the Bills are putting Dan Carpenter on notice. Roster bonus now continent on him making the team. I'm for sending him to the Antarctic continent.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I'm for sending him to the Antarctic continent. How long are the XP attempts there?
Direhard Fan Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 He kicked very well two years ago. Why so many down on a kicker that had an injury most of the year and never complained about it.
Dragonborn10 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Insurance in case Aguayo is drafted in the third round or pulls a hamstring in camp
Freddie's Dead Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 How long are the XP attempts there? I don't know, but it's almost as cold as Buffalo.
purple haze Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 He kicked very well two years ago. Why so many down on a kicker that had an injury most of the year and never complained about it. Kickers kick. It's not like the forbearance a position player gets. He missed way too many kicks last year to be comfortable. If he shows throughout off season work and camp that he's regained form, great. But they should definitely be looking for another kicking option, who can also kick-off.
White Linen Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 We talk a lot about how Rex somehow messed up a great defense - I think he got inside a very good kickers head too. He was on Carpenter the first chance he got and never stopped. I never understood why he dissed Carp so publicly so soon.
papazoid Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 He kicked very well two years ago. Why so many down on a kicker that had an injury most of the year and never complained about it. what he said
Saxum Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 He was injured in camp and never seemed to get his form back. He also was not only kicker with PATs last year, just what league wanted. IMO if he did not think he would make roster he would have refused restructure and be released earlier with best chance of making another roster.
