According to a Pro Football Talk report, the Rams, who relocated to California after the 2015 season, have been presenting contracts to free agents with a clause that reads that the contract was executed in Missouri.

The speculation is that the Rams are attempting to get around California's more stringent, pro-employee workers' compensation laws by claiming the team is still based in the Show Me State.

Maybe they are just being cheap and want to use up the boilerplate contracts first. I wonder if they are meeting free agents in St Louis or LA?

Yeah, real "gutsy move" by the league. Lord knows the other California pro teams have been devastated by "pro labor" "worker's comp" claims by players over the years...

The teams don't pay the players comp anyway..

Taxes less in Missouri?

Just means less tax on signing bonuses executed this offseason before making the move official. After that all will be under CA rules and regulations. Edited by BarleyNY

State tax rate in CA above $526,444...12.3% http://www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/state-taxes-california.aspx

State tax rate in MO above $9001...6.0% http://www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/state-taxes-missouri.aspx

And people wonder why CA is losing the earning population to other states.

Except it's not. Population continues to grow, as do new business start-ups, state budget is running a surplus and there seems to be no problem signing athletes, executives, researchers, scientists, professors, actors, or anyone else. I wish your mistake was correct; life might be a whole lot nicer if a few miillion people moved out.

Ha! Get out of here with those facts. They don't fit my preconceived world view and economic theory.

LOL the NFLPA would prefer players pay half their income in CA at twice the rate---as long as they can get that $800 a week worker's comp a little easier in MO!!

Really, the worst players union ever.
