CentralVaBills
The World Cup games are tops. Soccer's a tough sell here. Because of the lack of clock stoppage, the tv folks can't shove 50 or so ads in your face like in an NFL game. 244958 Again, great, glad it works so well over there. Keep it there! stuckincincy
Yeah, that's why we don't watch it. No commercials. 244962 Philistine.

I'd rather watch fishing or curling. I would watch a show about soccer MILFs though.
KD in CA
Two heaping piles of crap. One has a cherry on top. 244949 Hey, some people think watching a bunch of cars bang into each other while they drive around an oval a couple hundred times is something to watch! Hardy Pyle
ahh...the lovely TBD soccer thread that emerges every once in a while. The rest of the world things NFL football is boring. American's think soccer is boring. The rest of the world doesn't understand football. American's don't understand soccer. Pretty simple. Both are great games but if you don't understand the game, your going to think it's boring. But I'd be watching the world cup final before the superbowl any time (well, unless the Bills were playing!)

bartshan-83
I get pretty jacked up for the World Cup games. Anytime a sport is being played at its highest level (and I understand the rules) I am pretty interested. I can't really watch unless I have a team to cheer for though. In the 2002 world cup, me and a few of my boys had a beach house for a week in DE. Since the games were at like 5am, we would just drink all night, stay for the game, get rowdy and then pass out. Come to think of it...maybe thats why I liked watching soccer.
Cugalabanza
I love soccer! Especially the international stuff. No commercials is a great bonus. I can watch a whole game and I'm not nauseous from a$$holes selling me a bunch of stevestojan. Maybe some day the U.S. pro version will be better. Not likely though if you guys are an accurate representation of the U.S. soccer market.

They raise a big stink over one lousy penny.
stevestojan
And NASCAR still lets you bring YOUR OWN beer to the track. 244992 You think they'd have half the attendance otherwise? Seriously, i was never into NASCAR, and I'm still not, but these good ol' boys down here live and die for it. Most weekend I split between the nice "downtown" bar, where there are some fine chicas, and the other night I'll go to a townie bar, and man, those guys are INTO their NASCAR. Don't ever tell em it's just a bunch of cars making left turns, because as dumb as you might wanna think they are, apparently they all have their doctorate in aerodynamics. I was nearly caught in the crossfire of a soccer riot in London several years ago. They make Philly fans look civilized. Besides, the urine bombs at a race usually come from the guys with a Confederate flag and a #3 sticker in the window of their pick up trucks. Cugalabanza
Oh, you mean like the GIANT ADS PRINTED RIGHT ON THE FIELD? 245004 Not nearly as annoying as real commercials. Reading the word Viagra on a banner during play is nothing compared to stopping the game to have some creepy fugger wink at me and stick his symbolic boner through this smiling wife's symbolic "tire swing." Jim Rome used to run that smack all the time. Now he's very complementary to the sport. To those who don't "get it", it's your loss. But everyone should go to a racing school like Bob Bondurant's. I'd bet few would echo the "it's not a sport" take upon graduation.
