The Big Cat Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Well, I guess "personnel not fitting the scheme" explains Nigel's missed tackle against the Giants . . . . Huh durr durr he had to like run far to get there huh durr durr covering for somebody else huh durr durr who couldn't grasp durr Rex's overly complicated scheme huh durr durr.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 This sucks. No more XTC references for me. Bradham was a badass. Interesting how many Bills D players are a "bad system fit" with Wrex. Hughes, Kyle Williams, and Dareus fit fine. Gilmore and Darby fit fine. Graham switched position. Aaron Williams only really played 1 game. Preston Brown and Bradham. I don't know why they wouldn't fit. Rex Ryan's defense is agressive. The problem I saw last year is that it wasn't Rex Ryan's defense. I don't know what defense that was.

Kyle Williams got hurt, Mario Williams regressed big time, and Aaron Williams got hurt. 3 key starters go down or regress big time you are going to have some level of regression on the defense. Half of your all world D-line (Which was the lynchpin to the unit) goes down or regresses. You suffer an injury to one of your top 2 or 3 DB's and your LB's don't fit perfectly into a new scheme. It was a lot of things that led to the Bills regressing defensively. Hopefully they get Kyle and Aaron back healthy, find players that fit the scheme better at MLB and in terms of a pass rusher, and the rest of the players get coached up to better fit the defense (And Rex adjusts his defense to better fit his players). I think the Eagles just got a really good player in Nigel. Young, fits the scheme, and highly effective in said scheme. The Bills seem to be committed to Rex's scheme so they likely need to put the resources into finding the personnel best suited to run it.
Coach Tuesday Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 It's the reason why the Rex hire made no sense at all. It will look even worse after next season, IMO. Enough already dude.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Well, I guess "personnel not fitting the scheme" explains Nigel's missed tackle against the Giants . . . . I have to wonder why he wanted to come back to the Bills if the scheme didn't fit him.
Dopey Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 how many? i count 1. Bradham.Huh,either you stopped counting after 1 or you can't count past 1 cuz Brown doesn't fit apparently. I'm curious to see how Dareus and Kyle are going to do. Even you know Kyle doesn't fit this scheme, one bit. And he is going to waste Dareus' talents.Seems like you have a thing for Rex, cool, hope he turns it around but stop pretending Rex didn't screw the pooch last season.
Bill from NYC Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Hughes, Kyle Williams, and Dareus fit fine. Except for the fact that they were unable to sack quarterbacks as compared to 2014. They did however look ok in pass coverage.
Dopey Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I have to wonder why he wanted to come back to the Bills if the scheme didn't fit him. He didn't. Just like Mario said he would take a pay cut. Just PR stuff. He's glad to be gone. Jmo
Dopey Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 when you think about it how would we have kept the D anyways? It's likely Mario, Leodis, and Bradham are still gone this year. Lost other starters from that D last year also. Defense was getting revamped anyway. To be honest i'de rather have Rex Ryan revamping the defense. Anything can be explained away, I guess.

Can you just have a discussion without that kind of stuff? All of those guys are still here. The only one I think may not be a "fit" is Kyle. I don't know of any team that changes coaches and all the players fit the scheme exactly. That said, I thought Kyle played well before he got hurt and that they will make it work. I think they are still in process of adding pieces like a NT to ensure Dareus is in the best position to take advantage of his strengths and Preston fits just fine, it may just not be at MLB. Bradham was a better fit for a 4-3.

Is that what he's saying today? My take from how he's comported himself the last 24 hours: he was one of the players not on board, but was just quiet about it. Him, Brown and Mario, that we can identify now.

Scott, If this defense picks up because they actually know wtf they are doing out there I expect you to be the first one in here saying you were wrong because that could EASILY happen

Peter Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I like Nigel. I have never questioned his work ethic. I will chalk up his comments about Mario as him not wanting to throw Mario under the bus. Either that or he is actually talking about Mario Butler. Anyone who watches the tape knows the level of Mario Williams' effort. Effort has nothing to do with scheme. The minimum that a team, teammates, and fans can and should expect of a player -- particularly the highest paid player in the history of the franchise -- is put in the effort. Just my two cents.
