It's been a lot like the Hughes deal all along IMO. Both probably could have gotten more on the market but both wanted to stay as long as the deal was fair. They are smart enough to know that it is safer to stay with the team where they have had individual success than go to a new team where you are in a whole new setting, as long as the offer isn't too far apart. Richie probably felt playing next to Glenn and wood is best for him to see the full length of this deal.

Good call Yolo. i heard a lot of people complaining about the Hughes deal, but he is a stud, and did the most on this line last year. He didn't break the bank at all. For one of the top LG's in football from last year's work, $5.3 mil seems right. Remember when they overpaid for Levitre at I thought was $8 mil a year.

26 CB - i didn't know you had such disdain for Whaley. I guess I missed that one. I respect your opinion, but disagree. i think Whaley has done a very good job here, and yes he had misses.

One interview i heard from Polian on NFLR was interesting as he stated he was lifetime 57% hit on his draft picks. I'm not sure on his analysis, but I'm sure he looked back at his career and felt that was a fair evaluation. Now he is in the HOF, and in my opinion is the most impactful person to this team in the last 30 years. He constructed this team out of garbage, and was applauded for his successes. The interesting thing is he did it again in Carolina, and in Indianapolis.

When I think of Whaley i'm not sure on the percentage, but he's had more hits than misses, and trade deals like the Hughes one was awesome. 26CB, I'm not disparaging your opinion as I love your posts, I'm just saying from a perspective, maybe he's not that bad. I'll agree we overpaid last year. My guess is he thought we were close and he went for broke on free agency. I know there are other examples of bad decisions, but for every bad call, there are some really good picks too.

Now the $64,000 question is there a way maybe to muster up some money for Evans. That would be awesome even if just for two years we have this dominant O-Line, where TT has time, the running game blows out this year, and hopefully a goo draft pick weapon on offense opens up our passing game. A man can dream.

we could sign evans if we wanted to. remember if we cut carpenter and gay we save like 2.5 mil. add 2.5 and that's evans. draft a kicker and we're good.

Gay saves no money, but does open up a roster spot. Whoever takes that spot will cost as much or more.

Carpenter's cap hit minus dead cap is about $1.7 mill. His replacement kicker won't cost all that much less, most likely, if it's an FA. If they draft someone they'd save around a mill after the new guy's salary is subtracted.

5.25 million per...If I am remembering the news correctly from this morning that is in line with the 10th rated guard money. He is better than that, but older.

Yeah, I think that is a a livable deal.

It's like #8 LG and #6 RG money. But again, the devil is in the details - how much signing bonus, how much guaranteed, how much the first 2 years. If the Bills offered less overall $$ than another team, but more guaranteed and more up-front Incognito can do the math and see that's a better deal for him.

RG let Miller develop and swing Back up?

That's, the only way they now pick up Evans, IMO. And it's not something a cash-strapped team with several holes would likely prioritize, I'd guess.

Yea it's his fault we lose so many players to injury, it's his fault Tyrod Taylor t injured and we had to play EJ, It's his fault Mario gave up on everyone around him and himself. Good thinking.

All he said was "We blame Rex for the bad coaching job he did last season". Sure, we had injuries. So did every team, even the playoff teams. And if you think Mario alone caused our d to suck, wow! Having said all of that, Rex did have a really bad year coaching us last season. Hopefully you can see that. Too many excuses for such a genius to need.

Spotrac has him as the #8 guard, left and right included. And yeah, you're right that the structure of the contract is key.

if we can find a drop kick FG kicker who can kick off, punt and take the snap from under center we won't need kickoff specialist, long snapper, punter, kicker and back-up QB FG holder. Overall saves three maybe four roster spots.

Well, bottom line is glad we got him. Continuity on the line and keeping our best asset (running game) is nice. I hope we didn't overpay. That's a lot of scratch for a 33 year old player at-frankly- a non premium position. I doubt any other team was offering him a deal that long or for that much.

Sorry bud. i thought you were serious, and was like huh?

I just really believe in Whaley, and know he's made mistakes. Thanks for clarifying for the naive guy. My bad as I fell for it. Duh.

1st year coaching staffs who are implementing a new system often have growing pains. Nothing particularly unusual about that in the NFL.

You can argue the O-Line is very premium and there are reports 6-7 teams were ready to offer same or a bit more.......
