It depends. People talk as though a player should be willing to "give back" salary. Wood played well last year. He's currently the 9th highest paid center. Why should he give back?

On the other hand, a restructure typically involves extending a contract and converting some of this year's salary to signing bonus to save cap space. Wood is 29. His contract runs 2 more years with no guaranteed $$. The Bills don't seem to have alternatives lined up at center. Unless they plan on drafting his replacement this year, it wouldn't be the worst notion to extend Wood, in which case, why wouldn't he want to restructure? He could convert some of his salary to signing bonus, bring home more cash this year, and perhaps gain some guaranteed $$ for next season.

It all depends on if the Bills feel comfortable they will get the 2015 Wood or the 2014 Wood. Which would (ha) probably depend some on who is playing next to him.

that was my sole point. you have expounded quite nicely my friend. Thank you!

Wood and Incognito have the same agent...

it'd be a gamble but give him an extra year and 4th yr option. Incentives. Etc. Restructure. Solidify the line with cog, Glenn, wood, Miller, Evans and Lief larsen

My guess is the actual visit isn't over yet. He must be staying through tomorrow. Usually they have some sort of media availability or press release to conclude visits

Evans was asked to take a pay cut two years in a row which is why he refused this year

From Feburary 11, "The Times-Picayune"

Veteran offensive lineman Jahri Evans declined an offer to negotiate a pay cut to remain with the New Orleans Saints before his release earlier this week, his agent told a Philadelphia radio station.
Last March, Evans agreed to a restructured contract that saved the Saints $4 million against the 2015 salary cap.
Evans was scheduled to count $8.2 million against the cap in 2016. The Saints saved $3.1 million against the cap by releasing him.
The move had added urgency because $2 million of Evan's base salary would have become fully guaranteed on Wednesday. Additionally, a $1 million roster bonus would have taken effect next month.

@Rand_Getlin: Osemele's market was incredibly hot. When the deal is announced, it'll blow the top off of the OG market. Huge get for the #Raiders.

THAT is why Richie is testing the market. That's also why the idea of signing Richie AND Jahri is a pipe dream.

His agent is off-the-charts crazy if the thinks he's sniffing Osemele money

No - but Osemele's deal will raise everyone else's at Guard. If Osemele is worth 11 Mil a year, Richie's worth a whole helluva lot more than the initial 4 million estimation.

Not to be snarky, but why?

I think Getlin is more saying that now that Osemele has signed it will allow the market on other Guards to get started. I don't think he's saying that since Osemele signed for so much that all the other guards are going to get more money
