Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Well, we all know that Fitzy has a higher opinion of himself than any GM has that he's worked for for more than a year or two. If you mean "higher opinion of himself than Buddy Nix does", why don't you just say so?
Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 i like mehta but he's wrong on this. let fitz sit until after the draft. maybe teams who might have wanted him won't need him because they'll get a new guy. but than, if someone doesn't get their guy fitz may look better. and shirely, by camp when some of these guys don't pan out well in practice or someone goes down, fitz is the first call. fitz has got the money and while he is competitive he is smart. and hopefully he is smart enough to sit and wait. he has the head and experience to pick up a system rather quickly. if i am fitz i'm not actively looking until june if i must. I think Mehta is wrong in that Fitz is likely to wait until the Colin Kaepernick destination settles. But he's not wrong overall in that the Jets may be Fitz best starting gig if Denver isn't interested or if the '9ers shed Kaep and they are'nt interested. The problem with your scenario is 1) reportedly Fitz is turning down >$12M guaranteed over 2 or 3 years 'cuz he wants closer to Osweiler money 2) if he sits and waits, teams may find themselves needing a QB, but they aren't likely to have the cap $$ to pay him more than the Jets are currently offering.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Report: Jets using RG3 as leverage, want Fitzpatrick back at right price The Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick may be far apart on a new contract but it sounds like the team wants the 33-year-old quarterback back in New York.
Mr. WEO Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 @MMehtaNYDN Ryan Fitzpatrick is out of options. It's time for him to re-sign with the Jets. #nyj http://nydn.us/1TTGOlC Here's another viewpoint: http://www.pressreader.com/usa/new-york-post/20160311/282621736818325 Jets are offering less than Chase Daniels. Mark Dominick makes good points. Fitz has money in the bank and he can just sit and watch the Jets go through the Kaep and RG3 motions and then what?---draft another QB? Start Geno? Team mates would go nuts. A nightmare scenario for the GM

26CornerBlitz Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 @PodcastWisdom "Fitzpatrick and the Jets are playing poker, and they're both sitting there with a pair of threes." - Mike Francesa
26CornerBlitz Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 @AlbertBreer Jets' focus remains on Ryan Fitzpatrick, but obviously having contingencies in place and depth at QB is important.
Rubes Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 @PodcastWisdom "Fitzpatrick and the Jets are playing poker, and they're both sitting there with a pair of threes." - Mike Francesa Sounds pretty accurate to me...
dayman Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 God I hope Fitz leaves the Jets. That will almost certainly knock off a contender for our desired wildcard spot in and of itself.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 As a bottom tier NFL starter/back up caliber QB, what the Jest are offering is about all he's worth. So what would you call Osweiler's contract?
26CornerBlitz Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 So what would you call Osweiler's contract? An overpayment.
YoloinOhio Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) @jasoncoleBR holdup for #Broncos in signing Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point is simple, team source said. He's asking for too much. We'll see what happens @adamschefter Broncos-Ryan Fitzpatrick had initial conversation, price more than Denver wants to spend at this time, and they could revisit talks later. Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 An overpayment. Indeed, but as with many "overpayments" for free agents, it sets the market or at least sets a new discussion place for the market.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Indeed, but as with many "overpayments" for free agents, it sets the market or at least sets a new discussion place for the market. No doubt. It's just the nature of the way things are in today's NFL with an escalating salary cap due to increasing revenues.
Nanker Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 If you mean "higher opinion of himself than Buddy Nix does", why don't you just say so? Here's Fitzy's dance card: 2005, 2006 - St Louis 2007, 2008 - SinSinatty 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 - Buff 2013 - Ten Thumbtacks 2014 - Houseton 2015 - JESTS He always leaves for a shot and more money. He puts the "journey" in Journeyman.
Maury Ballstein Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Broncos tell fitz he wants too much. Lolololol. Pickspatrick fails again.
Doc Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 He should take what they offer. It's the best situation of any.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 He should take what they offer. It's the best situation of any. Why doesn't his Harvard education help him to figure this out?
