Fitz is a good guy but not a starting QB. Time to accept a backup role in a place where his kids can have a stable home in a place that's familiar to them. Fitz for backup QB in 2016!

Haha. 5 td passes from the league lead and he's not starting caliber? Ha.

With the Bills? Not gonna happen.

Because he might beat out Taylor for the job.

Fitz is a starting caliber qb who cannot be relied upon to win a game in crunch time. There is value to that, but not top end value because you need to pay other players to win the game for you. At this point in his career I can't believe he and the Jets are not able to find common ground for a contract.

All this whining and I am still among a group of a dozen that wanted Fitz here the last 3 yrs still. He could have done excellent as a backup in our games.

Definitely would have been in the playoffs in 2014 and probably would have had a winning record in 2013 if we had Fitz and not Tuel/Lewis.

He is not a backup QB though when you look at the Rams, Texans, Jets and Browns situations. Fitz is a serviceable veteran who benefited from a good marriage with Gailey. If he didn't hurt his thumb vs. Oakland he may have brought the Jets to the playoffs.

Will he choke in a big game? Yes, he will totally lose all discipline and cost you when if matters most...but hey at least he can get you near where your trying to go. A handful of starting QB's can't say that.

You don't need to sell Fitzy to ole Big Cat here.

But then someone might have challenged EJ and we couldn't have that.

Yeah, the last 12 games of 2014 prove your point.

That's impossible, there's a 20 + page thread titled we have the worst salary cap in the league.

Likely the Jet's may have figured out Fitz can win some games, probably more than Geno could, but he's not a franchise QB so better to move on, go with a year of Geno stinking up the place get a high draft pick next year and maybe get a good QB. Though not very good odds and no idea if there will be a true franchise QB available when they pick, and even if there is, better than a 50/50 shot the guy flames out.

I'd be happy with him here as a backup to TT. You can win games with him, just not in long stretches as once opposing teams see recent film of him, they can stop him.

B) The Jets are in a bad salary cap position at the moment, arguably worse than ours.

Perfectly said. Fitz is a professional QB who can make things happen a lot of the time. BUT when it comes down to crunch time he just can't get it done more often than not. Perfect examples were the loss to the Giants in Met Life Stadium when we started out 5-1 in 2011. He underthrew Stevie J twice (once in the end zone) when he was open for just brutal interceptions. That game sent the team spiraling downhill. A loss in KC where we had numerous chances to win and he threw a flutter ball straight up in the air around midfield that was picked, and the Chiefs than kicked the winning FG in OT. And of course the 4th qtr meltdown against us in the last game. Bad way to end the year.

He will get a job. But is he going to lead your team deep in the playoffs? No way.

Yes. And?

The GM was the one clearing out EEeeeeeeeeeJ's competition.

The same GM who wouldn't sign KO until his HC screamed at him. The same GM who didn't bench EJ for KO for 14 weeks. So I don't know how your "point" contradicts mine.
