26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Must be on the phone with Mario hammering out that new contract. @JoeBuscaglia Update: #Bills GM Doug Whaley will now speak to local reporters around 4 pm today.
Mr. WEO Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 @JoeBuscaglia #Bills GM Doug Whaley is set to speak with us local media types here at about 3 PM. Plenty of #CapRamification questions on the way. No need, here are the answers: “This is a system set up in the NFL that you can’t keep everybody. So there’s going to be some tough decisions,” Whaley said. “That’s what we’re here for, to make those tough decisions. We’re going to try to make the right decisions. “The focus on the offseason would probably be on retaining most of everything that we have. We have some guys coming up that we think will be core to what we need to go forward, so I think that’s going to be the focus. … Our free agency is going to be signing our own guys and that’s again a complement to our scouting staff. We’ve drafted well enough that these guys are coming up and we want to retain them.” “My job is easy; we want this guy or that guy,” Whaley said. “But Jim Overdorf has the dubious task of fitting them into the salary cap and dealing with the agents. Right now it’s pretty restrictive. I believe we’re over the cap and JO will be working hard, working his magic.”

Overall draft, quality starters avail in 4th/5th round. Doug Whaley tells @SiriusXMNFL Bills won't be able to "re-sign everyone" but have "a core group of guys" that it's "imperative" to re-sign. @BuffaloBillsPR .@buffalobills GM Doug Whaley is on @SiriusXMNFL right now with @PatKirwanCBS and @JimMillerRFN at the #NFLCombine

thebandit27 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There you go! Right on cue. Is Whaley to be criticized for being consistent?
26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 @mikerodak Doug Whaley tells @SiriusXMNFL he would support longer combine interviews w/ character-concern players. "Rake them over coals"
Mr. WEO Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Is Whaley to be criticized for being consistent? LOL @mikerodak Doug Whaley tells @SiriusXMNFL he would support longer combine interviews w/ character-concern players. "Rake them over coals" yeah, because......something
26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 @buffalobills Whaley on Incognito and Glenn: "We'll leave all options open on our free agents and free agents from other teams." All options open with Mario By now everyone knows that Mario Williams has a cost prohibitive cap figure of almost $20M. In an offseason where the Bills have the least cap space of any team in the league, Williams contract will be addressed. How is the big question. Bills GM Doug Whaley is not closing the door on any option. GM Whaley: "We will add another quarterback. How we're going to do it? The options are open."
FireChan Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 @buffalobills Whaley on Incognito and Glenn: "We'll leave all options open on our free agents and free agents from other teams." All options open with Mario GM Whaley: "We will add another quarterback. How we're going to do it? The options are open." Sounds like another TT and EJ year.
26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 @TyDunne Doug Whaley: "When you look at our team, you could make the argument that we could draft any position." @SalSports Bills GM Doug Whaley says all options are on the table as far as restructuring contracts and maneuvering money to get done what team needs Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! @SalSports Whaley said "the door is still open" for a return of WR Percy Harvin. @MatthewFairburn Doug Whaley: "We've made some very good choices when building this team." @MatthewFairburn Whaley on Tyrod contract: "We've reached out to his representatives. This a week where we'll delve more into it. We'll see where it goes." @SalSports Whaley on #2 WR: Woods was injured last year, showed in 2014 he could be a #2; Have Goodwin and could get Harvin back.....(1/2).. (cont)..so, have a complement of guys who can fill role, but if there's someone who can help us, won't preclude us from doing it." @MatthewFairburn Bills GM Doug Whaley: "We want to win more than fans want to win because this is our livelihoods and what we do for a living."
nucci Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There you go! Right on cue. What do you expect? Sorry, don't answer that
26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Translation is Bye Mario! @SalSports GMDW on Mario on roster in 2016: Always a possibility...at that cap number it's prohibitive...but going to try and find solution that's best
26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 @SalSports Whaley said team WILL add another QB. Question is how they do it (draft, FA). "We have 2 QBs in last year of contract. All options open" @TyDunne How realistic is it for Whaley to re-sign both Glenn/Incognito: "Until they sign on the dotted line, you never know. But I feel confident."
Mr. WEO Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 What do you expect? Sorry, don't answer that Exactly what he delivered...as I said.
