ExiledInIllinois
Neither rain nor snow nor fear of amputation................ I think this letter carrier should be commended instead of having to apologize. Exactly!!!!!! How many paper cuts do the Cliff Claven's of the world get a day...This will only embolden more to "take the shift off" and visit the "company nurse" when getting a bloody scratch... My God... Thanks Olean! Bunch of babies... They said the carrier had no disease... I can only imagine what the "protocol" will be now? Don't get me wrong, blood borne pathos is bad... Very bad... But Holy Moly... I want to know how much dried blood set these patrons off? And... I am a Union guy too... One cant pay attention to if they are dripping blood? Carry a first aide kit in the postal vehicle? Edited February 20, 2016 by ExiledInIllinois

UConn James
My father is a USPS substitute carrier.Do you know how many papercuts you get when you handle that much mail? After the 9/11 and anthrax stuff, they were provided latex gloves, which would routinely rip/tear after maybe 30 minutes and cause all kinds of annoyances because carriers often need that fine tactile ability that gloves really get in the way of. So... he gets some papercuts. This is a different situation, but still, if it were bleeding *that* profusely... that's something that one should notice and put a freaking band-aid on.
