I have PreCheck so I know their pain.

One thing I find funny on some planesreading the instructions on how to open the emergency door. They show it being placed on the seats after getting it open. I'm thinking hell no, I'm chucking it out when I open the door.

If it pulls inward, then it's already inside, and throwing it out is just wasting time. Some also push out, and may be attached to the plane. The over wing types used to all pull inward, but since that's changing now, it's another good reason to listen to the safety announcements.

1st problem is using Travelocity instead of looking into booking everything yourself. 2nd was flying United. 90% of the time someone tells me about a bad airline experience, they were on United. American is not much better. I use Delta myself.

Shop 3rd parties then book direct.

More on the hotel side here but if you take the best rate out there to a manager via phone, if they are competent they will agree to beat it by about 10% to avoid the 15-20% in commissions they'd be paying the third party

I did get to see a crazy dude opt out of the scanner and then complain that the pat down guy got too close to his "private area". It was hilarious how whiny this guy was. The TSA agent was near his knee at that point, so that guy damn well better be in porn.

This same guy thought he could bypass security completely because his bag went through the X-ray fast and was sitting on the belt unattended.

Just a heads up on precheck. I did mine like 18 months ago, and had number in like a week. My wife is going on 7 weeks now without her number, so plan accordingly folks.

Woohoo, upgraded today from CLT to SFO. That's a lot o free beer!

Best deal is to get Nexus, if you are near the Canadian Border, because part of your interview has to be done by a Canadian Border Patrol Officer, and also get your iris scans done. It's $50, and includes Pre-Check and Global Entry.

United wound up giving us a total of $300 in "travel certificates". I guess they do listen sometimes. As I've dug into the situation, I've realized that they were the main cause for our screw ups. When they changed our flights originally, the agent did not remove us from the Chicago-Vegas flight that we were going to miss. Thanks to that, we were listed as no shows on that flight, and as a result, our return reservation was canceled.

I never recline. I feel like very few people do anymore out of courtesy.

Yet is swear everytime I fly I get the one ahole in front of me on the plane that decides to recline. Never fails.

good for you Shrader! $300 nothing to sneeze at!!!

I on the way to SFO Chef....lock er down!

(Edit) Why TF do we have to fly through the ONLY storm in the continental U.S. When it appears we could have flown around it if we went north about 50 miles. That's right, cause jet fuel is friggen expensive these days and you have dropped your fares to reflect it ( middle finger and sarcasm emoji here) and it worth me drinking 3 airplane bottles cause flight attendants are strapped into their seats and we all think we are going to DIE!

We got bumped from a flight out of Tortola a few years ago because of bad weather they couldn't seat us all. And the reason we were at the end of the line was because I was uncharacteristically late. They gave us $800 each and put us up for a night in Puerto Rico.

TSA precheck is the best travel investment you'll ever make. Do it.

Be advised, TSA PreCheck is only for participating airlines. Recently I flew Spirit and Frontier, they both do NOT particpate in TSA PreCheck.

Anyway, I usually use my DoD CAC id when I fly... The Known Traveler Number (KTN) is also my DoD number on back of CAC... TSA agents (usually) will let you cha cha up to the front even if you are on an airline not participating in PreCheck, same with whoever you are flying with... I guess the govt has all my info on that CAC chip... They'd be coming after my azz if somebody in my party fugs up!

Anyway... Any vets, retirees or other govt/DoD people w/CAC you can link to and get TSA PreCheck free... BUT you have to link the info and agree to TSA using your CAC info (fingerprints, etc...) by consenting to use... Go to:

Milconnect

DEERS-RAPIDS info... Etc...

Don't fly them often, but Virgin America pretty nice airline. Like the ordering and paying of drinks from the entertainment system... Ordered two beers for flight and delivered as soon as through 10k feet.

Nice legroom, tv, all good stuff!

Wish they flew more places I need to go.
