Jerry Jabber Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) It seems a lot of Bills fans are out to nail their own players as soon as they hear a Bills player has gotten in trouble with the law compared to the Patriots fans who believe every lie their organization sells them. I'm not saying that Bills fans need to be mindless sheep like the Mazzholes up north, but it's absolutely ridiculous to bash a player as soon we hear they've gotten in trouble and try to run them out of town. Gugny Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 It's not like Garrison Sanborn got into a tussle. Although he's never been convicted of anything (as far as I know), LeSean McCoy is no stranger to bad headlines. And he's on tape, brutally beating someone. And fans don't run players out of town. The Patriots have better leadership from Kraft, down. They have better players who have better discipline and are more professional. As a fan base, I would guess that it's a lot easier to support the team when things get a little hairy.
K D Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Shady isn't one of our own. He's a rent-a-player. He's making a lot of money and we haven't seen a return on that investment quite yet so a lot of us are still very much on the fence with him. If it was someone like Thurman then it would be a much different story.
chef4131 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 You would never catch a Pats player doing anything illegal. Sincerely, Aaron Hernandez

Boozy Bob has a reputation as a good leader sure but he is a money grubbing strong arming jerk who has a corrupt organization purchased with his wife's money. As far as players go, any random assortment of 53 NFL players is going to have players that get into trouble. With McCoy, the best approach it to wait and see. It is hard to imagine him becoming a sympathetic character in all of this but it is also hard to imagine him being 100% without fault. The violence isn't good. The Pats* had a guy who is rotting in jail for murder, and was linked to other deaths as well. That trumps McCoy, Hardy, Manziel, Rice and just about anyone else. You can't really blame the Pats* for that, Hernandez is to blame. Same goes for the Bills an McCoy.

Are you kidding me? Did you all of a sudden forget about Aaron Hernandez and the murders he committed? How about the two cheating scandals the Patriots have been involved with? Nobody knows all the facts in the McCoy case and you're already saying passing judgment on him. So you're proving my point.
White Linen Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I disagree JJ. I think it's good that we're one of the last few cities that doesn't like their athletes getting into trouble. Obviously innocent until proven has to be preserved - but this is an opinion board. Anger that a player involved at all is not taken well by Bills fans and I think I know why. It's tough being a fan of this team. I live out of town and except the ridicule I receive from friends that know I'm a fan - and the comments I get when wearing apparel. We accept this and often use it to bind us together stronger. We don't like when players embarrass us and disrespect our loyalty.

He is on tape, kicking the schit out of someone. That's not judgment; that's observation.
Nanker Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 The League has film of several severe beat downs that the Pats* have done to The Bills over the years, and nothing has ever come of it.
Gugny Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 The League has film of several severe beat downs that the Pats* have done to The Bills over the years, and nothing has ever come of it. That's only because they had their pants pulled up.

Gugny Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 You would never catch a Pats player doing anything illegal. Sincerely, Aaron Hernandez I think I recall the Patriots organization and fan base dumping him pretty quickly ... before he was convicted.

BillnutinHouston Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Any difference between how Bills and Pats* fans react to their players' off field problems can be explained by this: For years Pats* fans have watched repeated division titles and Super Bowls, we've watch serial mediocrity. Repeated bad outcomes wears on a fan base and fuels discontent. We are no better or worse people, just battered.
White Linen Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 It seems it's guilty until proven innocent, which is something I completely disagree with. I get it but suggesting fans won't jump to conclusions is naive. But I reject the notion we should be like Pats fans as you suggest - and rap our support around Shady. I think we should wait until the details come out for the legal side of this argument - but it's ok to be pissed he embarrassed us.

I didn't suggest that we should be like Pats fans, but I do agree 100% with your assessment that Bills fans should wait until the details come out for the legal side of this argument. It's seems Bills are pass judgment too quickly on our own players.

I'm not embarrassed at all....he's not a friend or family member...he plays on a team I root for.
Gugny Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 He embarrassed us? I'm not embarrassed at all....he's not a friend or family member...he plays on a team I root for. Seriously. It amazes me how personal this stuff gets for so many. It's a goddamn game, for chrissakes. These guys are entertainers and we're their fans. That's where the relationship begins and ends.
Bullpen Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) He embarrassed us? I'm not embarrassed at all....he's not a friend or family member...he plays on a team I root for. Exactly how I feel. A couple friends of mine were bumping their gums about the McCoy situation hoping to get a rise out of me. My response was almost verbatim of what you said. He doesn't help me pay my mortgage, he doesn't help me meet deadlines, he's a guy wearing the uniform and playing for the team that I happen to watch. It's not embarrassment for me, it's annoyance (accompanied with an knowing eye-roll of "oh key-riste now what did someone on the Bills do") Edited February 10, 2016 by Bullpen
