boyst Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 In the Super Bowl just now, there looked to be some confusion. Could you have two guys back there to return the punt and one calls fair catch but does not catch it - acting as a decoy?

26CornerBlitz Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 honestly, though, whats the rule to say you can't? If any returner make a fair catch signal. It stands.

zonabb Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 But couldn't someone yell "fair, fair, fair" to try and trick the D?
/dev/null Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 This would only be allowed for the Patriots*
K-9 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 But couldn't someone yell "fair, fair, fair" to try and trick the D? It it's not accompanied by a fair catch signal, then a fair catch wasn't called for, regardless of what is said. That doesn't mean the ref won't give a warning and call unsportsmanlike conduct if he sees fit. Lots of leeway when it comes to that call by the refs. GO BILLS!!!
Mr. WEO Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 But couldn't someone yell "fair, fair, fair" to try and trick the D? Only if they are playing the school for the blind
