Saxum Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 http://www.businessinsider.com/russell-okung-free-agency-email-a-big-problem-2016-1 Okung emailed all 32 teams (including the Seahawks, evidently) to inform them that he was undergoing shoulder surgery and would be ready in five months. Okung expressed an interest in speaking with teams about free agency "ASAP" before heading into surgery. While Okung's effort is commendable, it's also a violation of rules. Woops! Any team signing him may now need to pay penalty. And Okung can't fire his agent for he does not have one.
K-9 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 If he doesn't quit that self-tampering, he will go blind. GO BILLS!!!
Nanker Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 But think of the money he saved by not having an agent!
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) But think of the money he saved by not having an agent! His last contract was 6 years 48.5 million... So something like 5% of that. Not to mention he can keep all the money from endorsements. Probably turned out to be a couple million. Not sure what the tampering charge would be - he could've just gone on ESPN and said "My shoulder will be good to go for the start of the league year" and it would not have been an issue. That is what a smart connected agent would have made happen. What exactly is the penalty tho? Suspension or the team that signs him gets a fine? If hes a good player after the surgery dont we need more OL horses?
