GunnerBill Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Yea Cowser was one of the kids that lept out at me in the East-West Shrine game. He reminds me a little bit of Paul Kruger of the Cleveland Browns (not just the hair). He has the clichéd "high motor" and really good hands though there are some technique issues with his feet you would want to try and tidy up. I think like Kruger (who went much higher than Cowser will go) he might take some time to find his role in a defense (DE or OLB) but once he does he could be a really solid contributor at least as a role player.

Bocephuz Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Made a few minor trades to get this group..but they were all reasonable .. Used the Fanspeak Composite Board 19: R1P19 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN STATE - Fits our scheme, fills big need, seems like a no brainer to me. 49: R2P18 OLB SU'A CRAVENS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - - good value in 2nd round.. .has been stout against run even though he's smaller so should be a 3 down LB. Considering we go against Gronk twice per year and Aaron William's health is questionable I think this pick makes sense 80: R3P17 OLB KAMALEI CORREA BOISE STATE - again.. seems like a good fit for Rex' scheme. Should be able to get some pass rush and big enough to be stout on the outside 92: R3P29 DE BRONSON KAUFUSI BRIGHAM YOUNG - another good fit for scheme... big enough to be stout on the outside DE position but small enough to still maneuver and be versatile. From what I've read he already has very good technique so he may be able to contribute right away 112: R4P14 CB CYRUS JONES ALABAMA - it's always good to draft corners.. seems adequate in coverage nothing special.. but he was electric as a punt returner and we were awful in the return game last year so hopefully he'd provide reliable depth at CB and would start as PR 139: R4P41 C GRAHAM GLASGOW MICHIGAN - seems like good fit to fill Urbik's swing C/G role. 166: R5P27 DT D.J. READER CLEMSON - big fat run stuffing 2 gapper.. would allow MD to move around more and get better matchups 218: R6P43 QB VERNON ADAMS OREGON - Tyrod 2.0 Edited April 26, 2016 by Bocephuz

Bocephuz Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 On Correa.. for some reason he seems to be ranked as a third rounder on a lot of boards .. but IMO he seems to be the most well rounded 3 down 3-4 OLB ( I don't count big guys like Shaq Lawson in this group). I think Correa is better than Fackrell and Jenkins .. but most boards have him ranked lower than those guys for some reason.

I really think Correa is going to be a top-40 pick, which will probably surprise some folks. He's a classic 3-4 Sam--can rush the passer, set the edge, and drop into coverage. A plus athlete and a very high-effort guy.
Bocephuz Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Last I saw .. Correa was not on the Bills draft visits list... which seems rather odd as he appears to be a great fit

Great job on that one Thanks, I'm not really a Hackenberg guy either, but he was rated way higher than most of the other guys available at that pick. I really like the first three rounds in that draft though and I think Scooby Wright can wind up being a really solid player, DJ Reader is a real space-eater too

KOKBILLS Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I want to explain this one first...I used PFF's Big Board as a guideline...Fanspeaks updated board for the Draft... I really loved the results...I'm going to reach for Cardale in the 3rd in every mock because I just think at #80 he's worth the dice roll... I want Jones in the 1st and I've already explained a million times why...I really don't see him as a boom or bust type because I think his floor is good enough...I backed it up with Reader because I see him as a pure 0 or 1 technique...I think even if he's simply a plugger/stalemate NG that's good enough...And I think those two give Rex all kinds of flexibility along with the depth for a decent rotation to keep everyone fresh throughout the game... I could have had Sheppard, Boyd, Fuller, or Braxton Miller in the 2nd...I think Sheppard gives you more overall and he's got great hands...Correa in the 4th is a no-brainer to me...I don't see him as plug-and-play type as a Rookie...But on 3rd Down he should help a lot... I Drafted Kearse and Feeney specifically for their size/speed with the idea that they have the athletic ability to match up with TE's in coverage...Now...I don't think either is a finished product in that area by a long shot...But both are tall, long, and fast enough...Feeney is a former Safety and brings additional ability as a Pass Rusher (8 sacks and 17.5 TFL's in 2015)... I Drafted Morrison because he visited, they need depth at ILB, he's a leader, and a gamer...Albeit a painfully slow gamer... 19: R1P19 DT CHRIS JONES MISSISSIPPI STATE 49: R2P18 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA 80: R3P17 QB CARDALE JONES OHIO STATE 117: R4P19 OLB KAMALEI CORREA BOISE STATE 139: R4P41 S JAYRON KEARSE CLEMSON 156: R5P17 DT D.J.
