YoloinOhio Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Excellent points! I think you are correct it was our gameplan taken to another level. We can also learn from what Wade did. The thought actually crossed my mind as well. At 38, Brady and the Pats future doesn't look as good as the past. Wade's personnel was much better
Mr. WEO Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Yep. For as much rare fun as it was to watch Brady get the crap knocked out of him all day long, it was the Patriot's* game to lose -and they did. This is true. The best kicker in the game, who never misses a PAT missed one. ANd BB should have gone for the FG and this would have had a different outcome. After the first few seconds of the second Q, Manning and the Denver Offense were done.
Original Byrd Man Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You could also argue going for it with 6 and change was an error. Kick the field goal there and they probably win on their last possession I said the same thing to my buddy. Plenty of timr to get back for the TD, and they would not have had to go for two. The hoodie showed signs of despiration and I loved it!!!!!!!
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Wade's personnel was much better Yes! Pass rushers from both sides and LBs who can cover.
dave mcbride Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I honestly think that we saw an end of an era with these 2 qbs yesterday. Neither one looked good & my guess is Manning is going to have a tough time with that Carolina defense in 2 weeks. Manning is nuts if he comes back next year & I think your going to start to see a steep decline in Brady's performance going into next season. He has knocked around in these past 2 months more than I have ever seen. It also seems Like the refs for the most part have put the whistle away when it comes to late hits on Brady. Fathertime has yet to be beaten. Manning for the most part this year was terrible. He simply can't make the plays he needs to make anymore. He missed guys open yesterday down the middle for tds that a few years ago he makes in his sleep. Brady, the blue print is out on how to beat him. His line is a mess & you need to hit him early & often. There were some throws I thought he could of stepped into but was throwing off his back foot because he was concerned with the rush. Good post. I agree. Take the field goal down 8 with 6 minutes left? :wallbash:   It was the right call to go for it. They had 1 Touchdown the whole game. ( which was a gift from the Broncos ) No, it was not the right call. If nothing else, it meant the best you could get was overtime - a 50/50 proposition - if you fail, and it also meant having to rely on scoring tds twice in a row (regular td plus 2p) against the #1 defense in the league (and a defense that was dominating the pats). The fg was absolutely the right call there. It was mind boggling that he didn't do it.
RevWarRifleman Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The Huge Mistake by The Smug One this season: He chooses to kick to the Jets in overtime, which is ridiculously poor judgement unless there is a major wind or weather issue. (there was zero wind and it was a 60 degree December day). The Jets score on the Fitz throw to Decker, the Pats lose without Brady every seeing the field, and in the process lose home field advantage throughout. Instead of playing at home with their crowd, they must travel thousands of miles and play against a great defense in high altitude with crazy crowd noise. The score was close enough to say that home field was likely the deciding factor. Pete Carroll now has to hand over the title of "I overcoached my team out of a superbowl" to Bill, which Petey won last year trying to get cute with a passing call from the Patriots 1 yard line in the superbowl. Conveniently, I hit the daily double of pure joy in knowing that my two most hated coaches, Whiny Pete and Smug Bill, both screwed up royally in back to back years messing up complete no-brainer game decisions and costing them the entire season. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA............................... dopes "Whiney Pete and Smug Bill". Perfect.! Don't forget going to Miami to practice their run game. The complete disrespect for the fish lost them homefield advantage. Love seeing Tommy knocked around. Von Miller, the "Tommy Knocker".
May Day 10 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) I have never seen Brady look so weathered. His arms were all taped/bandaged. His ankles were taped up like balloons. He was often slow to get up. I have seen him take more abuse in the past half of this season than the rest of his career combined. That cant continue on his body pushing 40 no matter how many green drinks he has. I swear, I think his uniform got dirty like 5 times prior to 2008. I think it is also clear that at this point (before offseason), the Patriots, even with Brady are ripe for the picking without Gronkowski and to some extent Edelman. I would predict that Brady has one or two more good runs in him unless they can somehow construct a top offensive line. On paper, the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills should be able to bring the heat 6 times. Edited January 25, 2016 by May Day 10
RevWarRifleman Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 There were several errors, taking the ball, not kicking a FG, not bringing in an extra TE (Chandler) to chip the outside rusher or at least force him into a wider rush etc. Great job by Wade. Also, not using the 2 minute offense in the 2nd half. I was surprised by that. All during the regular season, they would use as early as the first quarter even. During half-time I said to my wife, expect a lot of 2-minute drill stuff from the pats this half.......Nada! And I didn't mind a bit.

That was one of the worst QB'd conference championship games I've ever witnessed. Meanwhile Cam looked unstoppable. I think Denver's D keeps them in it for a while, but Carolina's D is no joke either, and I think Denver struggles to score more than 17 points, and loses by at least 10.
RevWarRifleman Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Gronk was struggling with the altitude, the o-line was terrible, the 4th down fail with 6 minutes, taking the opening kickoff, Tommy getting smoked, receivers getting drilled when hit. All in all a perfect game! +1 Love it !!!!
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You could also argue going for it with 6 and change was an error. Kick the field goal there and they probably win on their last possession What I tell my kid and her friends when they stress their missed 3 pt (or FG, or FT) was the difference in the game - "you can't say that. Because if you'd made that basket, it would have been a different game going forward from that point". It's true. Now me, I think he should have gone for the safe® points and it was somewhat arrogant that he didn't, but if he had, it would have been a different game going forward. The Broncos D might have ratcheted it up a bit, the Broncos O might have ratcheted it up a bit. It didn't happen, so we'll never know. Did anyone else catch the story that the Broncs 2ndary coach had a list of "disses" from the Pats and media in his pocket and he would pull it out and read it to his guys to keep them turned up? Watching Denver's D made me sad, though. Why couldn't our D do that?
mabden Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 As happy as I am that I do not have to put up with those insufferable a$$h*les and hear all about how great Brady, Grunk, and Bellicheat are for two weeks, the one thing I am disappointed in is watching them get destroyed by Carolina!

BuffaloBillsForever Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I am SOOOOOO HAPPY I don't have to hear about Bill Bellyache, Tom Birdy and Rob Gonkowski the next two weeks.

You should have heard the collective cheers to groans, then whining. It appeared to me as though the Denver altitude was impacting a number of the Pats players not to mention all the orange screaming maniacs, so yes, homefield may well have been deciding. HA, HA, that must have been an enjoyable plane ride!

On top of that with Brady, in the 2nd half, he would have happy feet back there when there was NO ONE near him. Over the years, I've notice that's been a common denominator with him. You hit him early and often and you're in this guy's head. He gets flustered, his accuracy goes down a notch. He doesn't like to be touched, let alone beat up.

Mr. WEO Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 you could be right Nah. TD and 2 pointer is essentially TD and another TD (like 4th and goal). Kick that chip shot FG and the Gronk TD wins. Denver's Offense gave up right after the second Q. NE knew they were going to get another shot (got 2).
aristocrat Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Pistol pete did the same thing last week going for it at the end of the 2nd on 4th and 5 against the panthers. Two things happen....you throw away critical points, and your team mentally has taken a hit. Peyton hadn't moved the ball well against the pats really all game and then to sit there and tell your defense you don't have the confidence in them to make another stop is not good. Granted your qb is Brady but take the points and tell your defense to get tom the ball back and win the game.
