Any ideas on what “What?!” may be? I’m thinking Rey’s parents reveal.

The reveal that Benicio Del Toro's character is a former bounty hunter named Boba Fett

First reviews are trickling in and they're mixed...

(putting the quotes in spoiler tag - but nothing is revealed)

As it turns out, although “The Last Jedi” meets a relatively high standard for franchise filmmaking, Johnson’s effort is ultimately a disappointment. If anything, it demonstrates just how effective supervising producer Kathleen Kennedy and the forces that oversee this now Disney-owned property are at molding their individual directors’ visions into supporting a unified corporate aesthetic — a process that chewed up and spat out helmers such as Colin Trevorrow, Gareth Edwards, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. But Johnson was either strong enough or weak enough to adapt to such pressures, and the result is the longest and least essential chapter in the series.

That doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining. Rather, despite the success of “The Last Jedi” at supplying jaw-dropping visuals and a hall-of-fame-worthy lightsaber battle, audiences could presumably skip this film and show up for Episode IX without experiencing the slightest confusion as to what happened in the interim. It’s as if Johnson’s assignment was to extend the franchise without changing anything fundamental, which is closer to the way classic television and vintage James Bond movies operate than anything George Lucas ever served up.

Ew... that's not a good reaction.

The progression of Rey and the reveal of her backstory/Kylo's story wasn't enough? Are the side characters really bad?

The visuals aren't good?? The trailers certainly look fine...

From the sound of things, it's certainly a review that is likely to generate a bunch of clicks...

I'm going to see it at 11:00 PM and cannot wait! It currently has a 86% on Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/movie/star-wars-episode-viii---the-last-jedi?ref=hp) and a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_the_last_jedi).

The previous scores for Star Wars movies were:

1. Phantom Menace: 51% (Meta) & 55% (RT)
2. Attack of the Clones: 54% (Meta) & 66% (RT)

3. Revenge of the Sith: 68% (Meta) & 79% (RT)

4. A New Hope: 92% (Meta) & 93% (RT)

5. Empire Strikes Back: 81% (Meta) & 94% (RT)

6. Return of the Jedi: 53% (Meta..wow) & 80% (RT)

7. Force Awakens:  81% (Meta) & 93% (RT)
8. Rogue One: 65% (Meta) & 85% (RT)

This would make Last Jedi the 2nd highest rated Star Wars on Metacritic & tied for 1st with Empire Strikes Back on Rotten Tomatoes.

It's crazy though to think that Return of the Jedi had such mixed reception that it's rated as the 2nd lowest SW's movie on Metacritic at 53%, just slightly above Phantom Menace & 1 point below Attack of the Clones. IMO, I'd rank the movies:

1. Empire Strikes Back

2. A New Hope

3. Revenge of the Sith

4. Return of the Jedi

5. Force Awakens

6. Rogue One

7. Attack of the Clones

8. Phantom Menace

And I really don't find Rogue One bad or Force Awakens bad at all (I know it's cool to hate on FA as being a rehashed A New Hope), but they're just not quite as good as the ones I put above. However, they're not NEARLY as bad as the bottom 2 either. Anyway, I'm super excited to see it tonight, as the spoiler-free reviews have all said it's the first Star Wars movie to take serious risks to the franchise in decades, and that the last Act is phenomenal.

Anyway, as Jedi Master Gandalf always said - "Live long & prosper!"

Also Leia's bikini....yus. Plus Palpatine is my favorite villain of all time.

Is this the final star wars? Or are the new ones a trilogy?

Disney is making a new Star Wars every year for the rest of eternity, alternating trilogy and stand alone films like Rogue One.
