Gugny Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I thought, just by watching baseball and football on television, that I'd seen all of the idiotic alternate spellings of perfectly good names. At work today, I think I heard the best one (by best, I mean most stupid) ever: Myqule ... it's a female's name. !@#$ing Myqule Pronounced ..... Michael.
Chef Jim Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 It's funny. Whenever my wife and I make fun of spelling of ethnic names we always throw in at least one q. "It's Shaniqua. S-Q-H-A-Q-N-I-Q-U-A!" Or an apostrophe or two. What perfect timing. I just got an email from a Karryn. I assume pronounced Karen.
DC Tom Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 C-U-G-A-L-A-B-A-N-A-N-A. I mean, really? How retarded is that?

eball Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Almost as curious are the folks with "normally" spelled names who insist on odd pronunciations. My wife worked with a woman named Deborah. Da-BOR-ah is how she insisted it should be pronounced.
