OldTimer1960 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Bobby Douglas Bears. He was as tough as nails.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Bobby Douglas Bears. He was as tough as nails. RB lined up at QB and one tough SOB.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 In modern era I would say Big Ben Fitz McNabb Peyton manning I almost put Romo in category because he always seems to try to play through injuries. He might be the toughest guy made of glass
Buftex Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Kelly. I have heard said that he was like a linebacker playing Quarterback!
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 For me seeing Farve keep picking himself up after getting destroyed by New Orleans nearly gutting out a NFc championship after getting pummeled over and over was as gritty and tough a game as I love seen, forgetting the fact he was 40.
Dragonborn10 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 No one has mentioned Elway yet? He ran a ton and played behind a bad offensive line early in his career. The helicopter spin in the SB at his age? What about Montana? Half this board would have had their aorta seperate from their heart after the shot he took from Jim Burt. And another no one has mentioned, Randall Cunningham. That guy played a long time in this league with skinny legs and taking some brutal shots.
billsintaiwan Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Steve Grogan and Jeff Hostetler. Grogan definitely had some balls on him. Remember him playing with giant horse collar. Held together with strings.
DC Tom Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Steve Grogan and Jeff Hostetler. I was going to mention Hostetler. He took a hell of a beating in SB XXV. My favorite series of pictures from that game is Leon Seals trying to flatten Hostetler like roadkill. (Seals grabs Hostetler. Seals and Hostetler, floating in mid-air parallel to the ground. Hostetler on the ground, Seals on Hostetler.) I don't know how he walked away from that. Do that nowadays, it's a penalty and probably an ejection. Do that to Tommy Bundchen, and it's a felony.
chris heff Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Got to disagree about Joe Ferguson. Hit him a couple times and he'd get antsy and start slinging the ball away Played on a broken leg! Bobby Layne. Though he was hammered most of the time. Did you ever read "Fatso" Art Donovan's book?
Manther Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Brett Favre Jim McMahon Steve Young Jim Kelly Big Ben Agreed and include Kenny Stabler, Philip Rivers and John Elway. Edited January 19, 2016 by Manther
Chandler#81 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Bobby Layne. Though he was hammered most of the time. That's why. He was never feeling any pain! Tough to beat the old timers in the toughness category. Y.A. Tittle Johnny Unitas Kenny Stabler Joe Ferguson (that's right) Thread.
BarleyNY Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Some good calls so far on this topic. I'll add a not great QB, but one who was plenty tough. Byron Leftwich. Anyone who finishes a game like he did at Marshal with a broken leg has my respect. I still remember his teammates carrying him downfield between plays because he couldn't walk.
TakeYouToTasker Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I was going to mention Hostetler. He took a hell of a beating in SB XXV. I remember that play. That hit was vicious. Most people either don't know, or don't remember, but Hostetler played on the Giants special teams units.
Big Turk Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Tom Brady. I've never seen him complain or whine after being hit... Lmao! I hope this is a joke
Canadian Bills Fan Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Cant believe no one has said Trent Edwards yet! CBF
