I was listening to a taped Monday Night Countdown form the Bills vs. New England game and Ray Lewis was on. He said that Rex's defense is very complicated and that it takes at least 8 to 10 weeks to understand. He said after the players learn the defense is up to the players to "run" it on the field and make adjustments. So the problem "may" of been this,

1. The players were slow to run the system.

2. With the injuries there were players who were confused with the system,

3.There were players who refused to run the system. Or made improper adjustments.

If so with a year to run the system, bringing in players better suited for the system and removing players with systems issues should help the defense.

I HOPE.

There is no system, I'll repeat NO SYSTEM, where Mario and or Marcel should be dropping back in pass coverage. Yet it happened on at least one time in every game this season. Mind boggling is an understatement.

This is massively overstated. Mario and Marcel dropped back less than 5% of snaps.

And you would be completely wrong in that assessment. Nearly every defense has DLs dropping back once in a while.

There is a faction of Bills fans that needs to come to grips with this fact, pronto.

Hmmm...1 per game? 16 per 602 pass plays defended. 2.6% of plays. 2 per game? 5.2%

Mind not boggled...

Maybe guys like Mario should stop pretending it was so as well...

The Official Bills Party Line as expressed by Bills "journalist"/apologist Chris Brown (scroll down for Fan Friday 1-8 is:

1) It's Rex's fault, because he tried to accomodate the players who loved last year's D by concocting a mixed scheme, which makes it the players faults, for driving Rex to his Mixed Scheme Booboo)

2) It's the player's fault, because some selfish, mean players just refused to buy in to Rex's brilliant scheme and do what they shoulda done

3) It's Rex's fault, because he was aware that some players didn't buy-in and he tried every which way to appeal to them but no matter what he tried those Mean Players just wouldn't. Which makes it the players' faults, because everyone knows that players must police each other and hold each other accountable and the players just Didn't Do It.

So basically the Offical Bills Party Line is it's all the fault of those players, GoshDangIt, DagNabbit, those selfish SOBs.
