LOVEMESOMEBILLS Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Might be our biggest offseason move. Need leadership on D. He can bring it from the sidelines. Leadership & credibility, he can bring both. Now if he can coach and convey his experience and knowledge to the players it'll be a great hire.
r00tabaga Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Whoever plays free safety should be very improved over what we had last year just by this move alone!
LOVEMESOMEBILLS Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Ed Reed was a great player, a smart player and a leader. He will add a certain level of credibility and leadership that this team lacked. Leadership & credibility, he can bring both. Now if he can coach and convey his experience and knowledge to the players it'll be a great hire.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 He knows Rex's defense inside and out. Will certainly be able to relate to today's NFL players. Instant credibility! Well done Rex Ryan!
boyst Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 well, at least we got a player known around the league to come to buffalo.
Andrew Son Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Awesome move. He certainly knows the scheme
Deranged Rhino Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 This has Brandon's fingerprints all over it! Just another way to sell false hope. /s
26CornerBlitz Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 @RossTuckerNFL I'm not sure Ed Reed can teach anybody to do the things he did @jimleonhard Jim Leonhard Retweeted Ross Tucker True, you can't teach what he did, but he is the smartest football player I've been around.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Ray Lewis to leave ESPN to join Buffalo Bills as assistant LB coach. 🔥🔥🔥
dezertbill Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Dennis Thurman was Rex's DB coach when the Jets went to back to back AFC championship games. Allowing him to just focus on DB's seems to be his strength. Adding Ed Reed is a huge step as I see Reed showing the young players how to prepare each and every week for Rex's game plan and be a great sounding board on understanding a defense he ran like the back of his hand. Having that championship pedigree that is only two years removed from the league will hopefully help the players adapt as well. I also believe having someone like Reed in the building will teach some of the players how to be leaders, something he was great at. This is a win for Buffalo at the moment, but honestly I see Reed flying up the coaching chain and don't see an assistant title lasting very long. Hopefully that future will still be with the Bills.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Ed Reed was a great player, a smart player and a leader. He will add a certain level of credibility and leadership that this team lacked. Agreed. This has no downside and plenty of upside.
White Linen Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Most of us have been disappointed with Rex, some never wanted him, and some wanted him fired. No matter what side of the debate you're on - we'll benefit from his attraction to be able to make moves like Reed. I suspect that we'll see some that in free agency as well.
Reed83HOF Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Agreed. This has no downside and plenty of upside. The leadership aspect is what was sorely missing this season...having someone like him to challenge these players and to help get a leader to step up is enormous...
Paulmac Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I think this is a brilliant move by Ed Reed and the Bills..perhaps Reeds habits of conscientious film study, training and being a real student if football will rub off on the players..we need these types of hires and Rex/Rob Ryan will let Ed Reed improve the DBa and safeties
Bronc24 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Any way we can pull some strings and get Charles Manson paroled so he can coach? I like his intensity. He's a go-getter. He hasn't done anything since 1969.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Any way we can pull some strings and get Charles Manson paroled so he can coach? I like his intensity. He's a go-getter. A real killer instinct.
K D Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Boom instant leadership. He will hold the players accountable. It was him and Ray holding things down in Baltimore for all of those years. Now if we can actually get some players at LB and safety then we are going to be legit
Charles Romes Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Turns 38 in September. I'm not the only one who has looked it up.
BuffaninATL Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Rex is the D coordinator. I don't care who has the title. Rex runs the defense. His brother will help. Thurman will help. Ultimately, it's Rex's defense. Would the Bills offense have been any different if Chan had replaced Curtis Modkins when they were with the Bills? NOPE. too many chefs in the kitchen, IMO A real killer instinct. Manson or Ray Lewis ?
