KD in CA Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "Walk off" Started with the "walk-off home run". Now we have the "walk-off single". Pretty soon we'll have the "walk-off ground out to short".

KD in CA Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 At least it's accurate. Everybody walks (or skates) off the field at the end of every sporting event regardless of how it ended.
DC Tom Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Everybody walks (or skates) off the field at the end of every sporting event regardless of how it ended. I've got to get up and get something to eat. So this is a walk-off post...
bbb Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "It ain't bragging, if you can do it" - uh, yeah, that's bragging.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "Walk off" Started with the "walk-off home run". Now we have the "walk-off single". Pretty soon we'll have the "walk-off ground out to short". I've even heard it used outside of baseball this year. I heard ESPN use the phrase, "walk off touchdown" and "walk off field goal" when they were scored after time expired.
eball Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Everybody walks (or skates) off the field at the end of every sporting event regardless of how it ended. So you're saying you'd like to see the phrase "skate-off" used more frequently?
DC Tom Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I've even heard it used outside of baseball this year. I heard ESPN use the phrase, "walk off touchdown" and "walk off field goal" when they were scored after time expired. I'm starting to hear it in other sports, too. "Walk-off triple axel." "Walk-off discovered check." "Walk off three-bid no trump."
TDTT Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "What’s that? Ah — Playoffs? Don’t talk about — playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game!"
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) "What’s that? Ah — Playoffs? Don’t talk about — playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game!" That's a great one! Which is probably why it was mentioned like, five pages ago. Edited January 8, 2016 by The Real Buffalo Joe
HamSandwhich Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "What’s that? Ah — Playoffs? Don’t talk about — playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game!" How can you not love that? That's a classic!

Rubes Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm starting to hear it in other sports, too. "Walk-off triple axel." "Walk-off discovered check." "Walk off three-bid no trump." I remember some announcer using it for one of the NFL games this year, but I can't remember the context. Probably one of the overtime games.
KD in CA Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm starting to hear it in other sports, too. "Walk-off triple axel." "Walk-off discovered check." "Walk off three-bid no trump." I guess the Rams and Chargers are going to be walk-off franchises.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I guess the Rams and Chargers are going to be walk-off franchises. The phrase would be a lot better and tolerable if it was "fukk off" instead of "walk off." Like I would fully and continually support any announcer who just said "The game ended with a fukk off homerun." It's like F-U money.
Gray Beard Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 "The hoop and the harm" Our local TV sports wannabe broadcasters say that when they give basketball highlights and a player makes a shot while being fouled. Once was ok, but they work it in multiple times per broadcast. Enough! "BillsMafia" I may be unpopular for saying this, but this annoys me. I could go on about racial stereotypes, etc., but I just find it immature, unimaginative, inappropriate, embarrassing, and just plain dumb.
