dave mcbride Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I've been talking him up a bit lately, but wow--what a great game. The personal foul was an accident, and I don't fault him for it. It happens, and it was a good rush by him anyway. He made play after play today.
zevo Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 He is an important part to Rex's defense.....he was great under pettine.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I would extend him, if his contract is up soon. Great team player too. His role was diminished in Schwartz's scheme, and he never said a word. Great attitude; hard worker.
Deranged Rhino Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I completely underestimated how much the scheme change would help Manny heading into this year. He's been terrific and should be a part of the team going forward.
Big C Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Great guy, great game! Integral in this D and a leader.
NoSaint Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I would extend him, if his contract is up soon. Great team player too. His role was diminished in Schwartz's scheme, and he never said a word. Great attitude; hard worker. He will be 32 at the start of next season. Part of what made him a pettine fit was the speed to be versatile. I'm not sure he can be that guy going forward but as a vet role player you could do worse

dave mcbride Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Strikes me as a "smart" guy for this scheme-- almost how Leonard was in the defensive backfield. He has a BS in mechanical engineering (a freakin' hard major) and a 43 Wonderlic score, so yeah, he's smart.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I completely underestimated how much the scheme change would help Manny heading into this year. He's been terrific and should be a part of the team going forward. agreed he's more impactful in this scheme than 99, 95, 94 and any other 90 for that matter. And he's up to it.
Deranged Rhino Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 agreed he's more impactful in this scheme than 99, 95, 94 and any other 90 for that matter. And he's up to it. Kyle can play, and play well, in any system as he's shown. 99 made some big plays today, I still think he's the best defensive player on the roster.
John from Riverside Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I would keep Woods over Hogan..... But we need a better wideout in that spot
Johnny Hammersticks Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Lawson is pretty much a perfect 3-4 OLB, no?
folz Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 But I just read in a thread yesterday that he was old and washed up. What to believe? The number after his age: or his play on the field each week? He and Graham have been the best defensive players on the field for most of the year and I agree with the OP, Lawson had a monster game today!
Yoho Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I would keep Woods over Hogan..... But we need a better wideout in that spot I say we only draft wide receivers who have the same name as great golfers. Can we change it to Sammy Watson?
CSBill Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 agreed he's more impactful in this scheme than 99, 95, 94 and any other 90 for that matter. And he's up to it. No disrespect to Manny Lawson, he has been a gamer for the Bills, but what you said is a HUGE reason this Defense has not been good. Change the Scheme!!!!
dave mcbride Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 No disrespect to Manny Lawson, he has been a gamer for the Bills, but what you said is a HUGE reason this Defense has not been good. Change the Scheme!!!! For better or worse, we're stuck with the scheme. Might as well make the best of it.
Dorkington Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Lawson fits this (and Pettine's) scheme, but not Schwartz's... not a surprise to see him being productive again. Whereas the opposite is true for Brown and Bradham, it seems. As far as the personal foul, I can't fault him for that, he went for a body hit as Fitz was crumbling to try to avoid a hit.

I like Manny but that is an awful system then. He is one defensive player who improved this year. That's a problem but props to him.
papazoid Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) he had a good year. still think he is a cap casuality 2016 cap hit $3,400,000 dead money only $750,000 Edited January 4, 2016 by papazoid
