Every time i think about Robert Nkemdiche, or Spence at 19, I'm going to watch the Manziel recent video, and read about Gordon failing again recently his drug test.

That's enough for me never to gamble on a 1st, or even maybe a 2nd round pick. The risk reward is too high when there are so many other more reliable players you don't have to worry they will fall out of hotel rooms drunk, or dropping ex.

i have a feeling Spence won't go in the first. Unless someone trades back up from the 2nd into the bottom of the first to get him and he isn't their first pick. Just a hunch.

Agreed...

And I think Nkemdiche may see the same thing happen...In another year they may get pushed up a bit...But if you really need or want D-line this year there are other very good options that will likely be available in the 1st... B-)

right, wouldn't be surprised at all to see them both go top half of second. I think teams will be open to taking them but just don't think anyone wants them to be their "face of the 2016 draft" as the 1st round picks are usually much celebrated and paraded around by each team. I think with Nkemdiche it's an image/risk issue (he's a lot like Randy Gregory from last year) and with spence it's a trust issue. Edited by YoloinOhio

agreed 110%

Spence in the second might give Whaley pause though.

I think that's a fair assessment KOK.

@PFF

Purely from an on-field perspective, Ole Miss DT Robert Nkemdiche is a risky first-round pick. Here's why: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/04/13/draft-why-robert-nkemdiche-ranks-among-buyer-beware-d-line-prospects/

1. Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss

2. Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson

3. A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

interesting take on those 3.

I wonder what folks here think would the best of them for the Bills.

I might pick Dodd if i had to pick one of the 3

NFL COMPARISON

Muhammad Wilkerson

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/vernon-butler?id=2555243

That comparison is doing the guy no favours. He's not even close to being like Mo. Vernon is a base NT for the Bills with little pass rush ability.

Take elements of his technique and put that with Chris Jones' athletic profile and maybe you come closer.

You want to try and mould the next Wilkerson, take Jones instead. You can teach technique.

Agree re Jones being closer to Wilkerson

As to Butler, I think Jonathan Hankins is the better comparison

I would like both please. Jones and Butler

@rapsheet

The medical recheck for #Clemson DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder) confirmed what a specialist said earlier: No concern for his availability in '16

So Yo, is Shaq the guy if available? I saw a mock somewhere that had him falling to Carolina.

i think he would be but he hasn't visited. Not that it means they wouldn't take him if he fell to 19 (I do think he's a top 10 talent) but they have never drafted a player in the first who didn't visit since Whaley got here in 2010.

I really hope in the next few days, they announce visits for Lawson and Spence. If Ogbah is their pass rusher of choice, I might hit the roof.

I get the growing feeling that Jones is their guy; nothing more than a hunch though

A few people that know people that know the Bills thinking have put a lot of time into talking about him recently.

Either it's an elaborate smoke screen or Jones is way up the Bills board.

With all the DL talent in this draft, can't see Bills using pick #19 on one. If they could trade back with Denver, pick #31 would probably be a sweet spot for a guy like nkemdiche. If Bills can't find trade partner, I think they go with one of the OT's at #19.
