Week 17 forecast: Rex's revenge?

Will Ryan Fitzpatrick's Jets secure a playoff berth? Or will Rex Ryan's Bills spoil his former team's season? Elliot Harrison picks the winner of that contest and each game on the Week 17 slate.

Key matchup: No. 1 versus No. 1. The Bills' top-ranked running game must gain ground against a Jets front that has allowed the fewest rushing yards in the NFL. LeSean McCoy was the best player on the field when the Bills beat the Jets in Week 10. However, with nothing to play for, it's doubtful Rex Ryan will start him with his knee injury. Thus, Mike Gillislee and Karlos Williams, both of whom have had their moments this season, must produce against arguably the league's premier group up front.

Playoff implications: If the Jets win, they are in. The only question will be whether they are the fifth or sixth seed. If Todd Bowles' group does finish in the sixth spot, and the Patriots secure home-field, then we could be looking at a potential Jets- Patriots divisional round showdown. The last postseason game New York won came at New England following the 2010 season, when the Patriots were the No. 1 seed. #Rex #NYJvsBUF

I agree with the injury comparison above.....the Jets in good shape physically, and should win. If Darby can play, however, he and McKelvin are a good set of CB's and the passing could tougher for the Jets. If we have Mario Butler and whoever out there, however, our chances drop some. So, the Jets should be favored. However, did we ever see Fitz win the big one? Actually, no.....and he never has. He has to break form to win into the playoffs. Maybe this is his time....but it would be the first time. Of course, Kurt Warner won big after being in Pro football a decade...maybe that is Fitz also....but he doesn't have Warner's arm.

I don't see how the Bills win.

Yeah, I don't either. A Bills' team that has a reasonable number of injuries has a shot. This pre-season version of the Bills has virtually no shot. If they win the turnover battle by 2+ they can still win, otherwise I don't see it.

The loss with Bledsoe against the Steeler backups years ago still casts a pall over this team and fanbase.

Someone said that even if they lose the Jets will still be 10-6 and will take satisfaction from their season.

I disagree and think that a loss to the Bills will curse that team for a decade.

Its a huge game for the Jets and not just because it determines their playoff fate this year.

They really cannot afford to lose. It will be an unpleasant memory forever.

How the heck is the spread so small? Vegas unaware we are fielding our practice squad and the Jets are fully healthy?

Or who our coach is?

If the Jets can't win this game they will be an even bigger laughing stock than the Bills.

Too late we're already the laughing stock. We have a clown for a coach.
