My biggest fear is that everything is fine until the first contact of the summer and he feels the need to walk away. No blame attached if he did but we could be left so short-handed with no options to replace him at that point.

The money reason is why I'm open to drafting a couple of safeties.

Whaley is well aware that they need to address Safety in the offseason and even mentioned getting a vet on WGR this morning to strengthen the position. I wonder they are already thinking about Weddle.

Maybe coax Jim Leonhard out of retirement.

If I'm being serious, I quite like the way Isa Abdul-Quddus has played for the Lions this year. Not seen every game but he's shown up when I have.

Maybe David Bruton too. Bruton has been a core ST player in Denver for a while now.

He would seem like a nice fit but he's never had to do the amount of work he'd have to do in Rex system......he might need to make 50 more tackles in this system than he has ever had to in his career..........and his production has fallen off considerably in recent years.

And if I were to guess.........if he is going to play for cheap he would probably be inclined to do it for a contender with a proven QB.

frank gore and Andre Johnson have to be thrilled that they signed with a "contender" with a proven QB last year

It works out like that frequently.

Tony Gonzalez thought he was going to get a ring when he blocked a trade to Buffalo so he and his agent could later engineer a deal to Atlanta.

To be fair, he did just about get there with Atlanta -- weren't they at the 10 yard line or so when the failed on 4th down vs. SF?

Yes, they were very close. Then the next year they fell off a cliff and won 4 games or something.

I think it is just so hard to predict who will be a contender year in and year out. You can probably book the Pats and that's about it. This year, Baltimore, Dallas, Colts were all looked at as locks and the Redskins and Jets as a race for the bottom. Steelers might not make it. Seahawks and Packers have been inconsistent. Many teams are a QB injury away being a non-contender.

FAs should go where money and scheme are the right fit. IMO.

Yes and in the process he did finally win one playoff game in his long, illustrious career. But that's all his moving really amounted to. No championship. Upset in the playoffs on their homefield........just like a typical KC Chief.

Just watched the documentary on he and his bro a week ago. Not bad.

TG is pretty good on TV. Though, he did pick the Bills to win the SB this year so I question how many concussions he had

That last sentence is spot on. While the good franchises tend to trend in the overall correct direction... Season to season swings are unpredictable. Another fine examples is Carolina. Their WR situation was seen to be so bad after KB blew out his knee they were expected to struggle to do anything though the air.
