Chargers Fine Weddle $10K for Watching Daughter's HT Dance

Eric Weddle was fined $10,000 by Chargers for the dumbest reason possible. As an NFL player Eric Weddle's got important business to deal with at halftime. As a dad he had more important business last week, staying on the field at halftime to watch his daughter perform as part of a halftime dance ceremony.

The Chargers inexplicably fined him $10,000 for his decision.

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Weddle was "stunned" and "furious" when he found out his own team dinged him for watching his own daughter perform at the team's stadium.

Stay classy, San Diego.

They also won't let him fly with the team to the last game in Denver. Told him there wasn't room on the plane.

I think they are still mad that he criticized the FO publically to the media over the summer.

He's a UFA after this season. Needless to say, he's done with them.

he has been done since they told him he was done last summer. Straight up said they would not be discussing an extension, they were moving on. And are kicking him out the door as a thank you for his 9 years. Edited by YoloinOhio

We need a safety

He would seem like a nice fit but he's never had to do the amount of work he'd have to do in Rex system......he might need to make 50 more tackles in this system than he has ever had to in his career..........and his production has fallen off considerably in recent years.

And if I were to guess.........if he is going to play for cheap he would probably be inclined to do it for a contender with a proven QB.

Classy move. Their GM got into scouting because he was friends with Polian's son. None of them, including the guy in Jacksonville, have been very good. Nepotism is not a good thing.

Nepotism = root cause of the 49's decline.

Other... Weddle seems like a hard core West Coast guy. I don't seem him coming to Buffalo in any stretch of the imagination. A shame too, he is an unselfish locker room leader, something the Bills need.

I've also been saying that the Bengals likely won't pay both their safeties who are FAs: George Iloka and Reggie Nelson. Either would be an upgrade.

Iloka would be a superb addition but I don't see the Bills pursuing a highly touted FA safety unless Aaron calls it quits in the next few weeks.

It's one of things I hate about the NFL. A lot guys get to these positions because of who they know or are related to.

And I loved Weddle since college. He played everywhere. I agree with you about leadership. This team was sorely missing it this year. I love the player but a guy like McCoy shouldn't be your leader.

a ton hangs on AW

My biggest fear is that everything is fine until the first contact of the summer and he feels the need to walk away. No blame attached if he did but we could be left so short-handed with no options to replace him at that point.

The money reason is why I'm open to drafting a couple of safeties.
